Dr. Bridget Staab, OD

Dr. Staab gave me a prescription with a much higher ADDs value than I had previously. When I got my glasses they were horrible close-up. The upper portion of the lenses were fine, but the lower portions were abysmal. Walmart said I could come back for a follow-up. So far so good, it looked like they were going to fix it. Unfortunately, when I went back Dr. Staab made no effort to correct it. She was defensive and unprofessional. At one point, she said, “Have you ever even worn progressives before?” in a very dismissive way (I’ve worn them for 20 years). She didn’t understand that I wasn’t there to accuse her of incompetence, I just wanted a good prescription. When I questioned the ADDs change from 1.25 to 2.25, she said, “Everybody over 50 gets an ADDs value of 2.25.” So... one day I’m a 49 year old with an ADDs value of 1.25, and the next day I’m 50 and I need 2.25? That does not seem right to me. Also, everybody in the world has the same ADDs values strictly depending on age?
