Dr. Brigid M. Dolan, MD

Dr. Dolan Is a very kind caring professional doctor that will take the time to listen to you and we'll make sure make sure that you get the best care on every level every level she will fight for you when insurance companies are not doing right she will get the job done she has been my doctor for many years And it has been a privilege

Dr. Dolan seems like she might be an empathic and attuned internal medicine doctor. However, at our appt she was extremely dismissive and borderline rude. As a family, we have a child who has had type 1 diabetes for several years and we have learned a great about the genetic auto-immune disease through our history of caring for it and our relationship with our son’s endocrinologist. When my husband began showing the initial signs of the onset of type 1, (elevated blood glucose after meals for over a week), we became very concerned and were told by our son’s endocrinologist that this could be initial stages of type 1 and we should get an antibody panel done to try and determine the risk. We prioritized this appointment and even got a sitter for our kids as we were validly concerned and wanted to get the process started to rule out type 1 or (less likely type 2). Once we arrived, Dr. Dolan was unprofessional from the start, sitting on the floor in front of us in a very informal manner… and not at all attuned to our stress. She was convinced and insisted that type 1 diabetes would be extremely unlikely as a diagnosis for my husband (despite his clear symptoms) and even used the word “weird” to describe the possibility. She refused to order any further testing despite my explanation that our son’s endo recommended it. She did finally refer us to another Endocrinologist (which is why I gave one extra star for her halfhearted foresight.) But ultimately it felt as though she wanted us out of her office as soon as possible and kept implying that we were overreacting and nuts to be at the office in a Friday before a long weekend for a concern that didn’t seem valid to her. I was in tears at the end of the appointment, having not felt listened to and my husband felt humiliated, as she had scolded him for not having a regular primary care doctor and almost forced him into a gown for a random check up when we had not requested or needed it. Ultimately, we felt dismissed, not heard, and made to feel as though our concerns were not valid (despite our family genetic history of type 1 and his very concerning symptoms of elevated blood glucose- often a sign of the onset of the disease.) She may have good qualities as a family practitioner. But I would not recommend her for anyone who needs to figure out more complicated diagnostic issues. As she will not dig any deeper into questions she doesn’t know the answer and did not seem to know why nor did she care to find out more in order to give an answer as to why my husbands blood glucose would be elevated for over a week. We only hope that this doesn’t lead to something worse. And we will follow up with the endocrinologist for further information.

Dr. Dolan is a fantastic doctor. Always responds to my mychart messages right away; sympathetic and a great listener; and makes me feel like she is providing holistic treatment for every possible issue I could have. I am floored at some of the other reviews on this page and feel like they may be from bots because they are far from the truth.

I needed a pregnancy test. I had just finished an IVF cycle (in the Czech Republic). Because Dr. Dolan was my PCP, I scheduled an appointment to see her. She approached me in the waiting room and with a raised voice said "this is completely unprofessional. I shouldn't have to order a pregnancy test for you." Others in the waiting room no doubt heard her chastise me. She wrote out the lab order at the reception desk and slammed it down on the counter.

Dr. Dolan is very thorough and attentive. She is a great listener and provides the truth abut your health challenges. I have been a Northwestern patient since 1999, and have had multiple PCP's , I would say she is the 2nd best doctor I had. She is honest and concerned about your health issues.

The first time I visited Dr. Dolan, I was struck by how much time she took to get to know me. She asked lots of questions, listened and truly seemed to care about my total health. I felt a bond and, although I only visited once a year, she remembered details about my life. I had to leave because my insurance kept changing, but I hope to find another insurance in the Marketplace that I can use to get back to Dr. Dolan. She even called to follow up a couple of times, to be sure I was doing what I was supposed to do.

I am very happy to have Dr. Dolan as my primary doctor. She is very easy to talk to and I never feel rushed. I am very satisfied with the care I get.

I expected more from Northwestern hospital. I am just an average guy and usually don't write reviews. but my experience with this "doctor" was almost traumatizing...just horrible. I just hope other people who are in need of real professional help regarding their health will steer clear of Brigid Dolan. I have never met a doctor who was more rude, unempathetic, condescending, and useless. This is someone who clearly should avoid working with people or anything that requires being a good listener. What a waste of time and money.

She is rude and is always late for a appointment. She never tells the truth about health and never calls back and respond if I need medicines or another appointment.
