Made appt to see Dr. Bishop about my sinuses. Spent maybe 2 minutes telling him about my history with sinus problems. All he was interested in was doing an EKG, breast exam, ordering mammogram. Told him about my migraines and that I get my prescriptions through CHAMPVA... even gave them my prescription card. After about 2 1/2 week, hadn't gotten my prescription (which is unusual for CHAMPVA). I called his office. Was told "CHAMPVA not in system, did I have a number." I gave them THREE (3) numbers. I just now called after another approx 2 1/2 weeks, and my leaving a voice mail message, that they didn't have CHAMPVA in their system. Thought OPTUMRX was the same as 'CHAMPVA'. I told her it was a darn (sp) good thing I wasn't in a world of hurt for my prescription, or (I won't write here what I said). Then I hung up on her after telling her I was going back to my original doctor, who BTW is in Georgia (from where I transferred). Needless to say, I AM NOT A HAPPY CAMPER.

Unfortunately, his practice has gone progressively downhill. I was a patient of his for approximately twelve years. I never missed or showed up late for an appointment. I paid what I owed immediately. I was told to find a new physician because of a misunderstanding. A misunderstanding that would have been avoided if he or his staff actually listened during appointments or phone calls. He uses a “scribe” during appointments to take notes, and this seems ineffective. Not to mention, uncomfortable! Fortunately, being dismissed by Dr Bishop was actually a positive, even though I didn’t see it at the time. I have established myself with a new physician, who actually listens, and seems to genuinely care about my healthcare needs. I have now moved completely away from anyone affiliated with Blount Memorial!

I was transferred to Dr Bishop's care when my long-term primary care physician left the practice. I asked for an appointment with the Dr in order to meet him and change prescriptions over to his name. I was told I did not need to do this, but was given an appointment anyway. At all appointments I have had with Dr Bishop, I have waited in the exam rooms for a much longer time than with my previous dr, then once he was in the room, he never looked me in the eye, gave me any sort of physical exam, and rushed me through the visit. I felt like he never truly listened to what I was saying. At my last visit I was told I did not need to return for 12 months, then received a phone call telling me I would need to be seen in order to fill a (non-narcotic) medication that I have been on for years. I called to clarify this since it had only been 5 months since my last visit, had to lave a voicemail for the nurse, then later that day got a call from my pharmacy telling me my prescription was ready… for pick-up. Then a few days after that I received a certified letter saying I had been terminated from Dr Bishop's care due to our "doctor-patient relationship being absent." I work in a doctor's office and know that this is NOT how business should be done. However I am not upset by this letter as I was in the process of finding a new primary care physician anyhow. The letter just lit a fire under my feet to get me going on that soon rather than later. I absolutely DO NOT recommend Dr Bishop if you are looking for any kind of quality care!

My husband & I have seen Dr. B for over 12 years and have always felt secure in knowing we are seeing a doctor who truly cares about our well-being and knows his stuff! Since my husband became ill with a incurable disease, Dr. B has been a lifeline with our myriad of health problems. God Bless You and all your staff for the exceptional job you do. You are all angels!!!

This has been my dr for 12 years but did not have to see him much til the last 3 years due to gout. Please please please do not use this doctor. My honest opinion is he does care about my health and left me in pain. Your like in a fast food line and a lab rat wanting me to try everything that does not work and I feel a true dr should try to help ease your pain so you can make it thru the day and do your job. Very dissatisfied and looking for another doctor. It seems he does not care about my pain. I realize what is going on with drug abuse now days but what about the people that spend 700 month for insurance and now wanting to prescribe another medicine but this one costing almost 200 that I can not afford. So now I realize why people don't work and get free government assistance. The great American way.

I have always been pleased, even amazed at times by Dr Bishob. He truly cares and will take the time to be sure he understands my health status and that I understand his instruction.

I have seen him only a couple of times and he is very inconsistent. If he is in a good mood he is great but when he is rushed or behind he is less than even ok. He barely listened to my problem, looked in my throat and listened to chest and said must be a bug. I asked if he was going to take a strep test or flu test and he said no. I asked if I could be sent for blood work to find out what was going on (like I was the Dr) and he said he could do that. I had to go somewhere else to get the bloodwork bc they dont do it there and then when I got there they didnt even have the orders and had to call. I waited 2 days with no follow up and called them and all I got was all is normal. I asked could the dr call me because I was still not feeling well and she said I guess, 1 week later and still nothing. I will be changing Dr's asap

He takes the time to get to know you and asks questions. He has been so encouraging in my weight loss. My husband sees him as well and we both agree he is one of a kind!
