Dr. Bruce Harold Bender, MD

Went to doctor Bender because fatigued. Sent me to do some lab work. Week and a half later I called back. They finally got ahold of me said everything was fine continue on as usual. What the heck what about the problem I still have that I went to seem.

Much better than most doctors I have seen

I didn't know, when I made the appointment for my Mother, that Bender was this man's state of being as well as his name. My Mother was stricken with Alzheimer's and I had called ahead of her first appointment to let him and his nurse know that she doesn't accept that she has it and gets quite upset if it's mentioned. This happens all the time with Dementia patients and any descent Dr. would understand but Bender and his nurse chose to be real pro's about it and when I got there with her they were rude, I couldn't figure it out. All I had asked is that they not use the word "dementia" around her as I am her caregiver and I have seen how she reacts to it and, let's face it, they aren't the ones going home with her. As soon as Bender walked in the exam room, presumably having been told by his nurse of my request to not use the "d" word, he scowls at me, looks at Mom and says, "So, besides the dementia, how is everything else going?" I cannot express enough how ignorant this man was.… After he examined her, which included a rectal exam, he tossed me a box of tissues, said, "clean her up", and walked out the door. Is it that uncommon for a caregiver to make a request like that of their Dr? BTW, we never went back And I would hope that no one takes an elderly patient with Alzheimer;s there. He may have the beginning of the disease himself.
