Dr. Bruce Kirby Chung, MD

I had an appointment for my yearly physical check-up. A nurse measured my height to be 5'2", although I'm 5'9", and my blood pressure. I'm not sure she measured that correctly, especially since she used her finger on my wrist and a watch. A second nurse took my blood samples. She could not find the vein and made 2 holes in 2 arms. Finally the doctor saw me and made a very generic visit. It felt like he was reading a script. By Law, the yearly check-up is included in my insurance, but at the front desk they asked $40 co-pay. I asked why and they explained that it was because the doctor spoke to me about my blood pressure. That pressure measured with a watch by the 1st nurse. I explained that blood pressure should be included in a yearly check-up and refused to pay. I just found out that they charged my credit card without my authorization, regardless. This is just a money machine, not a health clinic. I will report them to the Office of Professional Medical Conduct.

I always love doctors who greet me by name and have checked my chart before hand. I've seen many doctors in the past and he's one of the best. Always ready to listen, meet me where i'm at, and willing to talk about the best path forward.

What a shame when doctors (or their practices) sacrifice their Hippocratic oath for money. I have been a patient for over 4 years, but I am leaving his practice. I needed a refill to a heartburn medication; however, unless I paid $25 dollars they would not refill my prescription. Charging a patient to write a refill while having a pending appointment is outrageous. I am going to find a place where doctors treat you like a patient.

Dr. Chung has been my primary care MD for 20+ years. I trust him 100% with my healthcare needs. He is intelligent and caring.

Been with Dr. Chung for over 15 years. The guy cares, listens, and takes time to get to know you. The other doctor he just took on recently who is a woman and has been there for a couple of years is just about is good as him. I had her look at me a couple of times and she was genuinely concerned with my well being.Now the staff there? They are pretty good. Sometimes they are slightly kurt and they will never ever let you talk to the doc on the phone and that's understandable. For the most part the staff is good though.

Dr. Chung has been my doctor since the early 90s. He is friendly, attentive, caring, and he LISTENS. He doesn't treat you like a hypochondriac like so many doctors, and is always patient and kind. He is always up on all the latest treatments and news. Over the years, the practice has become so large that the personal attention of the office itself has suffered and gone the way of the staff zealously blocking access to Dr. Chung unless you make an appointment, which isn't necessary if you merely have a question--and can be costly. And it gets frustrating trying to explain everything to receptionists, who seem to decide whether or not your concern warrants attention.One thing I do appreciate about this practice is that if you are really in need of care, they will usually let you come in that day and squeeze you in. You might have to wait for a while, but you will be seen. Saturday hours are great too, and unlike a lot of doctors, his office is open all week... none of this "only here… Tuesdays and Thursdays between 11 and 1" nonsense.Even though I moved out of Manhattan in 1997, I would not dream of changing doctors. Dr. Chung is the best.

I was able to get an appointment quickly, however, my wait time was 45 minutes, just in the waiting room. It was longer once taken to the exam room. When I asked the receptionist what the point of an appointment was when I end up waiting almost an hour longer, she said it's difficult to gage times. Really? I believe that his office staff is inept and rude. They need to take some customer service training. As for Dr. Chung, he seems like a good doctor, however he told me upfront that I may have to come back twice because he couldn't accomodate both of my health complaints that day. I have NEVER had a doctor tell me this before. Instead of agreeing to this, I continued to ask him a lot of health questions and eventually had him address both of the issues. Overall, I recommend Dr. Chung, but I do not recommend his staff. They really decrease the overall experience.
