Dr. Bruce Gelman, MD

I never got to meet Dr Gelman so this is not an indictment of his abilities which are unknown to me. I showed up at 6:30am on time for my 7:30 appointment. The courteous staff at the front of the hospital informed me I wasn’t on “the list” and instructed me to wait in the lobby while they contacted the doctors office. They called 4 times and the doctor was nowhere to be found. His office said they cancelled my appointment by accident and were trying to figure out why. Meanwhile I waited more than 90 minutes in the lobby and his office didn’t even have the respect for its patients to come and provide an explanation, or to admit me to their office so we could figure out the problem. After more than an hour and a half I left. I would NEVER trust an office this unprofessional to perform a delicate procedure in which I am required to be put under. Furthermore, they informed me only 3 days prior that I needed a negative Covid test, so I paid extra to rush the result. I called 5 times, 2 days… prior to my procedure to find out how long it was going to take so I could arrange pickup, which was required. I spent over 2 hours, collectively, on the phone only to be transferred to dead numbers each time. I have been to Mount Sinai half a dozen times and can say with certainty that it is the worst hospital system in NYC and should be avoided at all cost. Dr Gelman’s office is a disgrace. The rudest, most disrespectful, and least helpful doctor’s office I have ever encountered.

He is a wonderful doctor.

Dr. Gelman is not only a wonderful doctor,but he is the sweetest man.He is so compassionate&caring, I am so glad to have met him he has helped me so much.

I have been to a few GI docs. Dr Gelman is, by far, my favorite. He thinks outside the box & takes his time with you to review your file & symptoms. He has caught a few issues &, although conservative, he moves right on it. His 9:00pm call backs or check in's are especially appreciated. He is extremely thorough. I am comfortable & confident in the care he gives. I cannot speak highly enough of him.
