Dr. Bruce Oliver Hough, MD

I have NO idea how this man is a doctor. He has the WORST bedside manner. Do not even THINK of asking any questions, because he will act like you're beneath him and wasting his precious time. My Mother passed away 3 weeks ago. Obviously I am not blaming him for her death, but in a patient's last months, he definitely should learn to have more empathy. The best I can describe him is Alec Baldwin on Malice. Google "I am God, Malice." That is a perfect representation.

Hough treated a family member briefly for cancer before she passed a while back. He had quite possibly one of THE worse bedside manners I've ever encountered in a doctor (and this is an oncologist dealing with dying people!) The other doctors at the hospitals and rehab were SO much better. Hough was arrogant and pompous, and he sarcastically and condescendingly addressed my cousin and I like we were children when we had the gall to ask clarifying follow up questions about treatment options. We were just kind of gobsmacked by every encounter with him (our family member who was sick was just too stunned by her diagnosis to even notice how awful he was). Even a couple of the nurses at the hospital whispered to us that they couldn't stand him. He needs to go back to research work instead of clinical work. We switched oncologists to Dr. Rachna Raman who was wonderful and VERY compassionate. Perhaps Hough has improved in the time since we knew him but I would never, ever recommend him.

This doctor did not read a report he received for a test he ordered for me. My PCP told me the results of the test during an annual physical, 7 weeks after the test was done. The results were abnormal and led to immediate intervention by a specialist. I refused to continue seeing this doctor after that incident, despite being in the middle of my CA treatment. His failure to read and address the test results was negligence and could have led to my death if my PCP hadn't read the results and immediately intervened. This doctor is NOT thorough and required constant reminders about details of my case. Choose another doctor if you value your health and want a doctor who is as invested in your well being as you are.

Dr. Hough is an angel that God sent to earth to take care of his patients, he always there for you. I love him with all my heart and I'll never forget what he did for me, never. Breast cancer survivor patient.

Dr Hough is not the doctor for you if you need to find answers. He maybe great at his experience level but he treated me badly leaving the room abruptly because I had more questions then he cared to answer. It seemed like he does not want anyone else's opinion about what might be going on with you. I have seen a lot of doctors lately but he is the rudest person I have ever met. He is totally sociably unacceptable. I would think that a Dr dealing with cancer would be kind and patient but not him.

Dr. Hough is the most compassionate and caring doctor I have ever met.

I went to see Dr. Hough because my insurance dropped my previous hematologist. I had been previously diagnosed with anemia by my first hematologist and received IV iron without complications. It was understood that I would need an iron infusion again when my iron levels dropped again, but before that happened my insurance dropped the center where he works out of. I read these reviews of Dr. Hough and thought I had found a suitable replacement. When he first came in, he immediately seemed put off that my PCP ordered an iron infusion. He mentioned malpractice lawsuits more than once, but I presented him with my symptoms as well as my blood work for the past 2 years documenting the severe decline in my iron levels. He said that he will do the infusion and left the room abruptly. An appointment was made to do the infusion in a few days, but not more than 5 minutes out of the office he called and left me a voicemail saying that he changed his mind and once again, citing malpractice… as the reason. I don't believe that he ever had any intention of doing the infusion. I found him to be arrogant, stubborn, and unsympathetic. However, I do want to mention that the women working in his office were all excellent and empathetic.

Dr Houghs' is a pleasant, compassionate and concerned physican. His bedside manner and communicating skills are Topnotch. The patient, is not left feeling like an " idiot" you will not walk out of his office , in a mental fog, in search of an medical dictionary and try to patch all the medical terms together. He communicates on " your level". His follow-up care is timely, and attention to detail, unsurpassed. His office staff are all kind, loving and beautiful individuals. Thank you Dr Hough and staff ! You Are All Appreciated by me and my family.

I have been seeing Dr Hough for a bleeding disorder for about 2 years now. He has been patient with me even when I was not ready for more invasive treatments. He has always taken my perspective into consideration and has a wonderful bedside manner. He has even given me articles to read about my condition and is always so pleasant. When I have been sick, he has worked with me on the best treatment plan. He is a great Doctor that listens to his patients. Too bad I am moving out of state and have to find another doc but this doc is just awesome.
