Dr. Bruce Metcalf, MD

Dr. Metcalf brings advanced clinical training and a deeply patient-centered philosophy to the treatment of spine, joint, and nerve pain. Board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, he specializes in minimally invasive, non-surgical solutions with a strong emphasis on non-opioid treatment strategies. His clinical focus includes arthritis, degenerative joint and disc disease, spinal stenosis, neuropathic pain, peripheral neuralgia, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), and migraines. Through precision-guided interventional procedures and comprehensive rehabilitation strategies, Dr. Metcalf helps patients regain function, restore mobility, and improve quality of life. Dr. Metcalf graduated cum laude from St. George's University School of Medicine after completing his undergraduate studies at Indiana University. He completed his surgical internship at Hofstra University Northwell Health, training at North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center. He …then pursued residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, where he was elected Chief Resident by his peers and faculty. To further refine his expertise, Dr. Metcalf completed fellowship training in Interventional Spine and Musculoskeletal Medicine at The Center for Advanced Pain Management and Rehabilitation in Newark, New Jersey, a program accredited by the North American Spine Society (NASS). His advanced fellowship training allows him to deliver highly targeted, image-guided interventions grounded in evidence-based medicine. What distinguishes Dr. Metcalf is not only his technical precision, but his approach. He believes effective pain care begins with listening. Every treatment plan is personalized, strategic, and aligned with each patient's goals, whether that means returning to work, improving mobility, or simply living with less discomfort. Outside of clinical practice, Dr. Metcalf remains a dedicated Chicago sports fan and enjoys attending sporting events, comedy shows, and spending time with his two dogs, George and Carlton.
