Dr. Bruce Scott Sobel

Dr. Bruce is always in a hurry. Has 2-3 patients going at same time resulting in him hopping from room to room while you wait. He is very abrupt, jumps to conclusions without listening comprehensively to patient and doesn't act like he is caring or sympathetic to patient. He also has many services going on , such as chiropractic, dietician, x-ray, self-production of injections, and more. He bills multiple activities performed on each visit. I dropped him and found another provider to be my PCP.

I would not recommend this physician for these reasons: We required authorizations from Sobel’s office (for tests and lab work which Dr. Sobel ordered) and they never arrived. The providers and lab that we were referred to stated Sobel’s staff is notorious for not following through. Fortunately, those providers worked around this and allowed the visit or test to proceed. You will be called into the office without explanation. You will make the trip, pay the co-pay, only to be told by Dr. Sobel that you need routine lab work, x-ray or a routine scan. These things could and should be handled with a phone call, but, the office can’t bill insurance for a phone call. If you attempt to make this determination via phone prior to coming into the office …No one in this office will take a message. If you call to ask for a nurse or assistant, the receptionist puts you through to a line that rings endlessly. No one picks up and there is no opportunity to leave a message. The receptionist… won’t take messages, either. Dr. Sobel does not listen. He makes diagnosis without all the facts. We discovered he didn’t have some critical records during our visit. He ordered duplicate tests that had just been done. If there is any urgency to your situation, your sunk. You can only hope that the delays this office creates don’t result in further, or more permanent, harm. Our experience was very disappointing.. You do not need to endure it.

Forget it!! Just go to another DR. Chop Shop!!!!

I tried scheduling an appt with Dr. Bruce Sobel and since I had seen Dr. Larry Sobel's Physicians assistant once in the past year, they would not allow me to change to back Dr. Bruce whom I had seen many times in previous years. They preferred I go elsewhere before simply allowing me to see Dr. Bruce again. Guess what I did? Yes, I went elsewhere; to an office that cares about their patients.

I had neck pain, numbness in my fingers and shooting pains in my arm. Dr. Bruce attempted to improve the situation. While I had specific signs of stenosis and a herniated disk (diagnosed by an ER doctor), he approached the issue as a muscle problem. We wasted two weeks doing therapy with multiple weekly visits. I was finally feeling slightly better and anxious to get back to work, and then he did what seemed like a chiropractic adjustment. This adjustment brought the pain back and caused me to miss another week's work. When I approached him about getting FMLA paperwork filled out, he made excuses and tried to get out of it. It was at this point that he also started whining about the government - as if medical leave is a bad thing. After returning to work, my employer insisted that I do FMLA. When I approached the Sobel team with my requirements, I was informed that they would charge me to fill out the paperwork and that i would have to schedule another visit. In total, the FMLA… cost me in excess of $150 (paperwork charge, copay and lost wages). When I showed up for the visit, he was PO'd that he had to do the paperwork so fast - as if he did not know why I was there. I submitted the paperwork to him via fax a week earlier- but it was now a rush. The FMLA paperwork was such a mess that my employer declined it and requested additional information. The writing on the form was not legible. I sent the paperwork back to his office via fax, requesting clarification and I never heard from them again. My employer also tried to contact them, but their calls were not returned. I REALLY liked Dr. Bruce. He was my main doctor for +20 years, but I will not go back. It was not just one bad visit. It seems like the quality of care has gotten worse over time. While I was in considerable pain and missing work, Dr. Bruce started to talk about cholesterol levels. I found this tangent to be very poorly timed. As if he could not do anything about the neck pain - so he changed the subject to my diet? Even though I saw him @ every year, he never knew who I was or remembered I was a return patient. Even with multiple visits within a two week period, I still had to start over -explaining my problem. His practice seems just too busy for quality care and a professional bed side manner. They really make you feel like a number.

The staff is rude from the minute you walk in the office. Dr. Bruce will rush you along, hardly listen to your concerns. They made a serious mistake in my medical file by his nurse Nancy, no apologies were made to me, and he wouldn't return my calls. There are so many good Docs in Phoenix to go to this horrible practice!!!!!

Going to Dr Sobel is like being in a stockyard..... He loads 6-8 people into exam rooms & makes you wait 20-30 minutes then comes in for 2 minutes then leaves you wait on & off many more times, never giving you COMPLETE attention. Even before it was a 45 minute in the waiting room. The whole office is dirty front & back, front staff treats you like your interrupting their day. I have never seen a doctor or staff wash their hands, EVER! Did blood work & doesn't follow up & readjust meds. I am totally discussed with him & treatment (or non-treatment). He's just a big money collector & insurances need to check on him. Will NEVER go back ever!!! And this is the way he treats elderly! ?

First of all Dr Sobels office staff act like you are interrupting their day, very rarely smile! Once you get inside to the room to wait for Dr Sobel it's a long waiting game, he then comes in quick & hastily wants to know how you are, his bedside manner is rude, he looks at you like you shouldn't ask ANY questions & how dare you. Much of the time you are in room up to 1 & 1/2 hours while he is in and out & he rushes thru everything. Only a FEW of his nurses are nice & TRY to take time with you. I definitely am NOT impressed with anything about Dr Sobels practice. He stockpiles patients into their rooms & slowly herds them out!!! I will be looking for another Dr.

Office staff extremely rude! I suffer from Valley Fever and have been a cash customer and all Dr Bruce cares about is the money. Trying to manage my disease on a budget and all Dr. Bruce cares about is the money. Very upset and disgusted you can get more compassion from a rock.

Horrible experience & unfriendly staff. Be prepared to wait a long time. After a shoulder injury Bruce Sobel decided I needed physical therapy. Instead of sending me to a physical therapist, he did the therapy himself. Therapy cinsisted of havinga hotblanket on my shoulder for 50 minutes (it was cold after 20 minutes). The doctor ended with stretching my arm for 3 (yes, three) minutes. He wanted me to do 6 or 7 sessions like this. When I told hi I wanted to see a physical therapist, he gave me cortisone shot. Everything to milk the last dollar out of their patients.
