He then received his training in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition to rigorous surgical training, Dr. Vande Berg also completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship at the UNC Birth Defects Research Center where he studied abnormal craniofacial development. He became a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1999.
