Dr. Bruce John Witmer, MD

Doc is a really cool guy. I went in for a physical, had a great time talking with him. It was medical deferral for diabetes. After several months the FAA returned with permission to grant the medical approval. I called the office several times without a returned call over a period of weeks. As the final few weeks of the temporary approval neared I drove in. His Secretary was on vacation, and was told to try back later. I called a few more times to no avail. I went in again, this time I was told the Doc was on vacation until after the expiration date, but after discussion there was an agreement that if I brought the paper work in, they would at least send it to him, as he had already don the physical and it may be able to be finished up with a signature and a fax. I returned a couple days later to drop it off. His secretary was not in, apparently she doesn't work on Fridays. The guy at the desk got another man from the back, I gave him the documents. I explained what I had… been told, and he said no, he's not doing it. He started laughing. I explained he was essentially grounding me, and he laughed more. I reiterated what was said previously, and he didn't seem responsive. I told him he was basically telling me to go "f" myself. He said he could tell me to go "F" myself in Spanish tool. Doc is a cool guy, but the office has been a mess.

Dr. Witmer understands flight medicine, and is looking for ways to keep you flying, not reasons to prevent you from flying. IMO, that's the way it should be.

I had a hip replacement and experienced a slipped cup on day 2 postop. MD decided to adjust my ITB muscle during surgery. Many limitations even 1 year post-op. I had to find a specialist to revise the procedure. 3 years later I still experience muscle pain from ITB procedure. NOTE I never requested the ITB procedure.

Thank You for putting me at ease during the whole process. From the first phone call to the day of surgery, I knew I was in good hands. Thumbs up:)!Dr. Whitmer came in multiple times to check in on me prior to surgery and afterwards! THANK YOU!

I enjoyed my visit with Dr. Wittmer. He is very skilled and understanding of aviation medicine.

Had been seeing another orthopedist for 3yrs treating knee pain, had 2 orthoscopic surgeries, cortisone shots, and synvisc shots 4 times. Dr. sent me to Dr. Witmer for knee replacement surgery. Dr. Witmer spent 5 minutes with me asked if anyone had looked at my hips, took xrays and said hips were 98% of my problem. Replaced both hips over last 9 months and pain in hips and knees is gone! Trust this man, he knows what he is doing.
