Dr. Bryan D. Blitstein, a native to the Midwest, attended school at the University of Missouri, Kansas-City. There he completed both his undergraduate training and medical school in six years. He then traveled to Chicago for his General Surgical training at the Loyola University Medical Center. There he was awarded a scholarship for excellence to undergo additional training in Minimally Invasive, or Laparoscopic, Surgery.

Dr. Blitstein came to Charlotte in 1998.

Dr. Blitstein's special interests are in the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases, especially cancer, surgery of endocrine disorders, minimally Invasive surgery, and diseases of the breast. He also serves as a trauma surgeon for the Presbyterian Trauma Center. Dr. Blitstein has been Chief of surgery at Presbyterian Hospital Huntersville, and Carolinas Medical Center-University.

He is an accomplished pianist in classical, jazz, and blues playing since the age of 8. He enjoys spending time with his two sons.

On April 30, 2025, Dr. Blitstein repaired my recurrent left inguinal hernia and my right inguinal hernia. The surgery worked out great. He used mesh, a robot, and incredible skill. I didn't need to take even one of the prescribed pain meds. The entire team was incredible. I strongly recommend Dr. Blitstein.

Dr Blitstein was rude and treated me in an extremely condescending way. He was flippant at one point. His treatment made me fearful of seeing another doctor for the same issues. It took about 10 years and an extreme amount of pain before I sought another doctor. Thankful to have found someone in Pineville who is compassionate and understanding and is working with me to resolve my issues. I would have rated him zero stars if it was possible.

strongly recommend against letting him do a nissen surgery on you. ruined me for life about 4 years ago.

Dr. Blitstein’s office staff was friendly and quickly completed the new patient paperwork for my 9:00 appointment. The nurse took me back with very little wait time. Before I was able to change and sit on the exam table, Dr Blitstein entered the room. He was kind, attentive and reassuring. He established an appropriate treatment plan and I was discharged by 9:22. His staff called with diagnostic appointments before 12:00, the same day. I am impressed.

This was my second surgery with Dr Blitstein. He’s a first class surgeon professional and caring. I have utmost confidence in his skills and would recommend him highly. He puts you at ease with his friendly manner as well. If you need surgery he’s the right one for the job if you want success and no complications.

Dr. Blitstein is a blessing! He figured out the issue and explain everything so we could understand. He made a plan to resolve the issue and even though the resolution involved surgery, he made the right decision and we are so very thankful for him! He is very knowledgeable, friendly and a pleasure!
