Dr. Bryan Pui Wang Chan, MD

My mom has been his patient for almost 10 years. He refused to see her when she was very sick. Never seen a doctor as bad as him.

Dr.Chan and his wife Alice (who also works in the office as his assistant) are very greedy people. They ask money for everything and don't care about patient courtesy. His office and records are not organized, most of the time I have to tell him the last time we were at his office because they don't keep track of things properly. He's not our doctor anymore.

I am a Healthnet Medical member. I don't know if it is because I am a Medical patient that turned this appointment into a huge disappointment in service but if you accept Healthnet Medical insurance, the patient should be treated with respect and accepted. And I wasn't. I was made to feel inferior because I have medical (I am in the midst of qualifying for regular Healthnet). Anticipating a problem with my eligibility, I had called both Dr. Chan's office and Healthnet to verify eligibility. Dr. Chan's office said they don't accept medical and need my Healthnet member number. I called Healthnet to relay that message. The first associate was not very informative and she called me by the wrong first name and mispronounced my last name. When I asked to speak to someone else, she hung up on me. When I called back, the second associate,Rebecca, was pleasant and informative. She told me I am covered under Healthnet Medical and eligibility can be verified through my Medical number.When I… arrived at Dr.Chan's office, the receptionist (young woman with blond hair) looked up but did not verbally greet me nor smile. Wow what a first impression. When I gave her my Medical card and repeated the message from Rebecca at Healthnet, the receptionist looked up my account through the computer and said I was not eligible. Jaime, who spoke with Healthnet, said she was trying to verify my eligibility when the line went dead. A third person, (middle aged Asian woman with a name tag) said I am not eligible and to come back when I had my Healthnet member card. When I spoke with Healthnet for the third time today, Brandon said I am eligible and that the office staff was "incorrect and they were just being lazy". I had always avoided being a Medical patient for this very reason. You are stereotyped to be a low life person because your economic status doesn't qualify you for real insurance. As I said I am applying to the real healthnet, which I have had in the past. I was never treated this poorly before. If you have Healthnet Medical don't go to this doctor. His staff really sucks!

Better stay away from this office. I've visited the doctor several times in the past 4 years. The doctor seems either not have enough medical knowledge to help you out or maybe bad communication skills. Basically you can not get useful medical opinion and/or help when you really need. I finally decided to switch away after he not only mis-diagnosed but also caused the delayed treatment of my friend's dad's Colorectal cancer. The office is always dirty all year along. The most senior nurse "Grace" often mischarges your office visits and send wrong bills to you. You have to waste a lot of time to correct them back. All of my friends have switched away from this office after a couple of times very bad/annoying experiences.

I've been a patient of Dr. Chan's for over 10 years. He is always courteous and thorough. I have referred several family members to him. The only small thing I would point out is that the office needs some remodeling. But I will continue to be his patient as long as they accept my insurance. :)

Dr. Chan leaves something to be desired. I went with my elderly mother and asked questions on her behalf. He was often short with me and did not seem open to my questions or suggestions regarding my mothers illness, although I know her better than he. He needs to work on the bedside manner and realize a patient is more than just a paycheck
