The doctor at Airway Pediatrics was kind and caring, but the administrative side was so disorganized and inflexible that I had to switch to a new practice. The exam room spaces themselves are cramped and uncomfortable to wait in. Despite clear instructions from the doctor about when my newborn should return, the scheduling staff refused to follow those recommendations, making it nearly impossible to book appointments during the times that fit my needs best, a huge challenge as a new parent recovering from childbirth who lives rurally. On one occasion the doctor took over half an hour longer than my scheduled time before seeing my child, which would have been acceptable if the office was willing to over me the same courtesy. Their strict enforcement of cancellation and late policies was unreasonable. I was forced to reschedule for being only 12 minutes late, even though the doors were locked because the staff were on a late lunch break when I arrived. Calling the office was just… as difficult since the phone frequently went unanswered, very concerning when your child is sick, especially living in a rural area with poor cell reception. I asked the staff on several occasions to please contact me via email or text when possible, but they were never able to accommodate this request leaving me to play phone tag with any issues I had as they rarely answer rhe phone. The office environment was disorganized and unprofessional overall. It truly felt like they were more focused on extracting the maximum amount of money from me than providing compassionate care, even though it seemed the doctor himself was most focused on creating good relationships with his patients. When I requested my child's medical records to transfer to a new practice, they insisted on charging the maximum amount allowed by state law with no flexibility or understanding. I ended up getting whatever records I could from the patient portal rather than continuing to deal with the exhausting administrative side of this practice. Communication was poor, concerns and questions often dismissed by staff, and there was a distinct lack of transparency and empathy throughout the entire experience. This lack of professionalism, combined with inflexible policies that disregard the realities many families face, makes it clear that this practice prioritizes profit over patient care. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere for pediatric care where your family’s needs and concerns will be truly valued and respected.
