Dr. Bryant Chungyan Leung III, MD

I was a patient of Dr. Larry Ding, Pain Specialist for 15 years. I have 9 spinal fusions and loss of rib, with an extraordinary amount of collateral pain. I would see Dr. Ding every 3 to 4 months for prescription renewal. Unfortunately, Dr. Ding passed away in February. It was going to be very difficult to find a pain specialist that would take on such an old case. However, Dr. Leung was coming out of retirement (as related by the NewportCare Staff) to take on the patients of Dr. Ding. I made an appointment in reasonable time. I went to appointment in Riverside and I paid a $275 for the visit. When called back after waiting 1hr and 45 minutes I saw Dr. Leung. He was a nice man, and went immediately to work doing his work up with a female whom I believe was a physician. After 1/2 hr. Dr. Leung said he would send script to my CVS location. I said "see you in 3 months" and he said no, this was a one time thing. Just to help out. $275 for a one time appt. ouch, I guess that… is going rate. But now I was right back with no pain specialist to provide my pain medications. I received my 30day supply of meds. Then when it came time for renewal CVS denied stating that Dr. Leung only prescribe a 30 day supply. Dr. Ding always gave up to 4 months of refills for his monthly fee, and he did not take advantage of people in pain looking for a doctor that would continue the continuity of care. I called NewportCare (if you do call this office, if you get someone to answer you will be on the phone waiting a long time) to get Dr. Leung to renew the prescriptions and I was told he only did that as a favor and was not a resident doctor. So, went on my way. Now I get a text asking if I was ready to set a new appointment. Have no idea why I am getting this text.

Be prepared to WAIT. Now I'm not talking about 45 min or so. No...My appointment was yesterday as a matter of fact scheduled at 11am, I didn't get seen until 1:30pm. That's the facts and that was not a long wait for me. I've spent hours in his office, once up to 5 hours. I would have never done it other than the fact he is pain management and he prescribed my medication. Other than that..I'd NEVER see him again. He's nice, I'll give him that. But does not compensate for his lack of time management. He spends too much time dragging his feet and chit chatting with staff and patients. You can hear EVERYTHING through those paper thin walls. Not to mention Maddy, his assistant so ddoesn't know her job. They will NEVER answer the phone nor will they return a single call. Worst and I mean worst operation over there I have EVER had the misfortune of being involved with.

Dr. Leung has been my pain specialist for four years. I have RSD caused from a horse related incident. I drive an hour from home to see me, because other doctors I saw had absolutely no empathy for what I was going through. Dr. Leung is kind and compassionate. When he comes in to talk to you, he sits down and meets you eye to eye so that you know he is listening to you. With medication and nerve blocks, my quality of life has improved tremendously. The office staff at the OMG medical group is not staffed with the most caring people. However, I put up with them, because the quality of the doctor is most important.

I've had four back surgeries and it seemed Dr. Leung thought I was lying about pain levels.I changed to a new Dr.and got some Help with my pain. I'am going to have a nureostimulater installed. Dr.Leung never talked to me about other treatments.
