Dr. Bshara John Barakat, MD

Dr Barakat has been my personal primary care physical for 15 years. He is medically knowledgeable, available when needed and personally concerned about my physical health.

He does not deserve to be called a physician. He is wasting insurance money. He’s fraudulent with his medical care. His vehicles seem to be more classy than his business and attitude. He is unsuccessful with maintaining the same staff. His office is disgusting and I would be more concerned with leaving with more problems than when entering. Obtaining necessary needs is obsolete. And he looks unkept and unsanitary. Seeing him is the equivalent of flipping a coin; heads it’s this diagnosis, tails it’s the other. Google will give you a longer life span and save you a tons a money better than this Medicare fraudulently billing scum. I could not work for this kind of physician and still be considered a good human being. I would be embarrassed to admit having any involvement with this man and his business. I’m shocked he hasn’t lost his license or forced to shut down.

Although Dr. Barakat has a good "bedside manner", I was suspicious of his motives as soon as I started seeing him. He never examined me in over a year of seeing him. He called for test after test that coincidentally were conducted in his office and billed Medicare for many hundreds of dollars for tests that may not have been necessary. He diagnosed a condition based on an initial blood test and immediately put me on a drug. I went to an endocrinologist for a second opinion and she seemed VERY surprised (although diplomatic and professional) at his diagnosis. She took me off the medication, had me do another blood test in four weeks which proved that I did not have the condition Dr. Barakat diagnosed. In addition to this problem, Dr. Barakat's office is cluttered, shabby and his staff wear street clothes like sweatshirts with pictures and logos not related to the medical field. I have never seen a medical professional (including office staff) that do not wear scrubs or some kind of… uniform. Where there is another choice, I strongly do not recommend this doctor.

Although Dr. Barakat is very personable and easy to talk to, I am concerned that he recommends too many tests (all done at his office) without a sound reason other than a "let's just check this out to be safe" attitude. Based on what my insurance company is charged, he is making A LOT of money on needless tests. Also concerned about the condition of his office facility - old, cluttered, and unwelcoming. His staff do not have a very professional appearance. They wear street clothes like sweats which do not look professional.

Dr Barakat could be a better physician, but his attitude is not of doctor that should be practicing with elderly patients.
