Dr. Buck Andrew Braden, DO

I pay cash to visit Dr. Braden, since my insurer is withdrawing from the state at the end of the calendar year. i have been a client of the clinic he works at for over 10 years; much longer than he has been a physician there. I have been on a certain medicine for the same length of time and have only once had my dosage adjusted, even after complaining about it's slowly diminishing effectiveness due to a tolerance developing. After seeing Dr. Braden for about the 5th time (my old provider retired), I brought to his attention multiple valid reasons to increase my dosage; as I strongly believe this would help me focus immensely. In response, Dr. Braden then stated that due to recent unspecified problems with other patients, I was to undergo a 10 panel drug test at another facility. This was not to be covered by insurance and cost $50 dollars. I stated to Dr. Braden that since I had already paid $140 out of pocket just to see him that day, I would not be able to afford this completely… unnecessary drug test until the following day when I was paid. Dr. Braden refused to allow me to wait the 24 hours I needed for my check to clear to pay for and take the test. Since I heavily rely on this medication to function, I had no choice but to comply, which resulted in an overdraft of my account. In 10+ years of being a client at this facility, I have never suffered the embarrassment of having to return to the clinic hours later with a negative drug screening report, just so I could pick up my prescription. I fail to see how the actions of any other patient should interfere with my treatment. I have never heard of any other psychiatric facility requiring "random" drug screenings, particularly off-site. I ended my day $190 poorer and highly humiliated and unsatisfied with Dr. Braden's attitude towards my treatment.
