Dr. Burke Anthony Cunha, MD

He is a unique and highly talented and caring individual

Dr. Cunha does not take himself too seriously although he should. He's wonderful, no bull gets right to the problem. Has a sense of humor ans is an excellent example and teacher for the fellows who are licky enough to work under him. Would definitely recommend him. His office staff is wonderful as well.

Dr. Cunha had a teaching fellow in the office at all times. He told me he believed I might have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Sinusitis.He prescribed a 30 days supply anti-biotic and went into great detail as to how to take the Anti-biotic appropriately. He told me I needed to return for a follow up appointment.He sent me for an X-ray of my sinuses.to confirm his clinical findings of tender sinuses. I thought this was odd as all the previous Doctors had sent me for CT scans of my sinuses. A Teaching Fellow called me, told me that I did not have sinusitis based on the X-ray and need not return. I've had chronic sinusitis for 3 years and know for fact that I have sinusitis.I was told by the office staff that UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DOES DR. CUNHA SPEAK WITH PATIENTS ON THE PHONE. ALL EMERGENCY PHONECALLS will be returned by STUDENT DOCTORS as well. I was forced to play "broken telephone."I would call, relay my questions to the receptionist, who would speak to the student Dr. who… would then speak to Dr. Cunha.Then the student Dr .-one of a series of student Drs-would call me back. I was neither allowed to return to see Dr. Cunha nor to ever speak with him again.Months later, still very ill, I obtained my records from Dr. Cuhha's office.The report from the Radiologist who evaluated the X-ray of the Sinuses had recommended that I have a CT scan of my sinuses. This had never been relayed to me. I would not know of this if I had not requested the my records be sent to another Dr .Journal Articles from Harvard, and all the most reputable medical institutions state that X-rays are no longer used to screen for sinusitis and have not been used in decades.Having been to numerous ENTS who ordered CT sinus scans for my sinusitis,I had thought Dr. Cuhha's choice of an X ray and not CT scan was odd. What it particularly upsetting is Dr. Cunha policy to NEVER SPEAK with PATIENT.EVER.I have, in effect been "Dumped"secondhand, by Dr's Cunha's teaching fellow, and been denied the opportunity to speak to Dr. Cunha to find out why upon clinical exam, he thought I likely needed sinus SURGERY,and suddenly, I was"Fine". I deserve better than this-and so do you. So unless you want a Dr. who will NEVER SPEAK WITH YOU ON THE PHONE-EVER- even if you have an EMERGENCY, do not see Dr. Cunha.if I could click NEGATIVE stars or zero stars on "Follows up after visit" I would. Having students handle EMERGENCY calls is a recipe for Disaster.

Dr. Cunha is a Godsend. He is caring, thorough, does everything in the name of the patient and has the knowledge and confidence to diagnose correctly even in the face of opposing opinions.
