Dr. Burl Eugene Forgey IV, MD

I set up an initial consultation, which is $495 for Dr. Forgey. No problem. When I initially set up the appointment, on a Friday, the receptionist scheduled it for the following Monday. A family emergency arose and I had to travel to Birmingham. Remembering I had an appointment set up for Monday, I called hoping for a after hours line. I waited for over an hour 2 separate times, to no avail, throughout the weekend to try and reschedule the appt or cancel until I could make it back to Baton Rouge. I was never contacted back by his office nor was I able to reach anyone. Instead of showing grace and compassion for his clientele, Dr. Forgey instead instructed his employees to, without correspondence, send a bill and ultimately turn a missed appointment to collections. After several attempts to explain the nature of events which led to me missing our initial appt, no one batted an eye and instead moved expeditiously to retrieve their payment (for no service). I rarely miss an appt and… surely never intend to do so, however when I have, most professionals worth their weight in gold, understand and extend the benefit of the doubt. Especially considering he could’ve made thousands upon thousands in regularly scheduled appointments and evaluations. What a waste of space this office is, truly a travesty of the Hippocratic oath. You should be ashamed.

Not only listening to me, answering my questions, he was the only dr that could get my meds right so that I am living a happy life managing my many issues.

went to see him for extreme anxiety and depression. opened up to him completely and told him everything. he listened and then said he didn't want me as a patient, and still charged me $400. really made me feel worse than before after I trusted him as a medical professional and shared all my most personal thoughts with him. thanks for nothing, doc. guess you're not worried about pushing people off the edge...

I called to go back to Dr Forgey after several years of lengthy hospital stays. The last stay was 6 mos and I’m in a very dark place. I told the nurse all of this and he refused to reopen. I pleaded with her to let me speak to him to no avail. Forgey has skills but can treat patients very poorly.

Dr. Forgey was my dr for years. I always felt comfortable talking with him.

Dr. Forgey has served me well for the past 14 years. He is a very sincere and caring doctor. He listens to my suggestions and together we work on a treatment plan. Dr. Forgey incorporates other ideas into his practice such as exercise and nutrition. I have been in remission for nearly 13 years. His Staff are kind and professional. 4 stars!

This doctor did not take the time to find the right medications to treat me. There was an incident where i felt suicidal and paged him to help me and he did call me back but referred me to an outpatient therapy center where a totally new doctor began seeing me.

Dr. Forgey is great. He doesn't take insurance anymore so I can't see now, but he is honestly a fantastic doctor. He's extremely knowledgeable about treatment resistant illness and medications. I always felt heard and never rushed. I wish he could still be my psychiatrist.

Dr. Forgey is quite solid as a psychiatrist. I have confidence in his analysis/diagnostic skills and he's particularly adept with the pharmacology aspect of this profession. He does well for his trade craft.

Thanks to Dr.Forgey I have a new lease on life! My family is happy too. He diagnosed me with ADD and prescribed me medication that actually helps and now I can focus on battling the trials of everyday life. I was able to get in for an appointment in only a couple of days and I waited for the Dr a total of maybe 3 mins once I arrived. His professionalism is mirrored by his courteous office staff as well. He didn't accept insurance, but it was worth the money to finally have some relief and the assurance that I'm not crazy. I would recommend this Dr to anyone looking for psychiatric medication management and the opportunity to be the best you you can be. Thanks Dr. Forgey!
