Dr. Byron Li Lam, MD

My husband was seen by this Dr. Byron lamb !!! He misdiagnosed my husband and told him that he could not find anything "physiological " Wong and to return prn!!! Because of this my husband is now legally blind, can't read,can't drive a car, nor can he work as a CPA any longer!!! I tuly can't believe he is still working and has a license to practice!!!

He was extremely condescending, several times during my visit, because I didn't use the correct medical terminology when explaining my eye pain. He was behaving rudely in front of his interns, forgetting that I was there for answers about the health of my eyes. I left with a thorough eye examination, however he was still unable to tell me the cause of the problem, or identify if it were coming from the nerves of the eye/or tendons of the eye. When I asked if he thought irritated nerves in the eye may have caused my eye pain, he answered "Who would know!?" - Well, I would expect a Neuro-Ophthalmologist working at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute to know.

Wrong diagnosis , spoke to his students , that were observing , as if I was not in the room . Then proceeded to pronounce that I would become ill, even though all test results proved otherwise .. Misdiagnosed me and has poor attitude . Choose another doctor , if possible . By the way , it’s been four years, His diagnosis is still incorrect .

I would give him 0 stars if I could. He has no chair side manner. You can tell he is burnt out and over worked. It's time for him to retire. Don't waste your time at Bascom Palmer. Your just a number with an insurance card. My dog gets better treatment at the vet.

Deliberately misleading and unethical billing practices! I went to Bascon Palmer to see Dr. Byron Lam. I knew there would be hospital fees AND the fees from the doctor and I tried calling to find out what those fees would be in advance. I called billing, I called the doctor's scheduling department, I asked when I was physically there and no one was able to give me a quote. Not even a ballpark. I got the bill 2 months later and noticed I was being charge for my visual field test twice so I called to correct the issue. I was told that I was being charge for the right to use the machine and again for actually using it. The bill also said "and other diagnostic tests" even though I only had a visual field and nothing else. When I tried to explain to the billing representative that one should not be charged twice for the SAME thing, she said that she had worked there for 24 years and has been yelled at by every patient she has spoken with. She literally told me the last phone… call she had, the woman hung up on her for the exact same thing. Notice that if there are 24 consecutive years of complaints, there is clearly a problem. I will NEVER return to this facility. I hope my doctor will some day move to a different facility but if not, oh well, I'll just find a different neuro-opthamologist. Even if that means flying back to NY for my original doctor. That would have literally been cheaper due to the unethical billing practices conducted by Bascon Palmer Institute at the University of Miami Health System.
