Dr. Byron Lee Nelson, MD

Nelson is an excellent doctor who spends time with his patients and is extremely through. Never been to a smarter, more up to date doctor. I notice any complaints against him has to do with staff at Floyd medical care and before that it was Cherokee medical care. Dr Nelson was an employee of these facilities. He did not control the running of the office, appointments, etc as he did not run the business, he worked for it as most of us are employees where we work. Dr Nelson has left the Floyd system to open his own, private office. My understanding of one of the reasons he left was that Floyd Inc was pushing him to spend less time with his patients to maximum cash flow. This is not acceptable to physicians like Dr Nelson who once spent over an hour With a family member who was a Medicaid patient. Dr Nelson is an exceptional doctor and should be judged on that basis and not how a corporation ran the office where he worked

I used to go to a dr that herded you like cattle. But Dr. Nelson takes time with me for as long as I need. He is very knowledgeable in his care for patients. Wouldn’t go to anyone else!

I received a very rude letter from Loren Bass today. Nurse Practitioner in this office. She informed me NO health care provider in the office of 6 associates will provide me me with health care EVER. Simply because I walked out after an extensive wait. This clinic is definitely substandard! Find other health care!

Dr. Nelson does not talk to family members or returns calls. His NPs diagnose patients erroneously and almost cost a patient demise.
