Dr. Calhoun D. Cunningham, MD

I recently had a stapedectomy operation performed by Dr. Cunningham. He and his team were extremely professional, courteous and informative throughout.

Dr. Cunningham is an amazing doctor that truly cares for his patients. After going to numerous doctors for over 3 years of complaining about certain problems Dr. Cunningham was the ONLY doctor that suspected I may have a particular health problem and referred me to a specialist. He was RIGHT and I did have exactly what he suspected! Dr. Cunningham listens, he never makes you feel rushed, he answers all your questions and he's very kind and compassionate. I've never had a caring doctor like him before. Thank you. I would recommend him to all my family and friends in a heartbeat! He's the best there is! His assistant Michelle is so sweet and will always return your calls and she too makes you feel like you're a part of the family. They're a great team.

I went to Dr Cunningham after another Dr had diagnoised me with hearing loss. He gave me a 2nd opinion which was the correct one and has helped me very much with the treatment I needed. I have no problem ever getting in to see him.

My overall patient experience with Dr. Cunningham was extremely poor, more so than any other physician I have even encountered in my entire lifetime.Dr. Calhoun Cunningham may be a great physician, but he has one of the worst patent experiences Ive ever experienced. On one occasion I had a 9:00 AM appointment, and I made the mistake of asking the surly receptionist (Amy) about my status at 10:15 AM. I got a rude reply, and I was not in the doctors office until 11:45 AM. I cannot prove it, but I got the distinct impression that the passive aggressive receptionist punished me for complaining about the long waits.Its not uncommon for physicians to feel that they have the right to make patients wait for many hours to see them, but Dr. Cunningham is among the worst offenders I have ever seen. It appears that he routinely overbooks his schedule with complete disregard for his patients, many of whom will wait unnecessarily for hours.Dr. Cunninghams office staff was not only rude, they… were inept. On May 10th 2010, I was called to the front desk of Carolina Ear and Hearing Clinic (Amy again) and told that my insurance had denied my treatment and demanded more than $1,300. When I expressed disbelief that my insurance was no good, Amy told me, in a loud and rude voice:Why does it always have to be this way with you?Because I was led to believe that I was not covered, I did not get the treatment that I needed, and once the matter was resolved (Dr. Cunninghams office failed to file the insurance claim promptly) I was forced to suffer for more than a week to find an ENT to help me.In my visits to Dr. Cunninghams office I always waited for more than a hour, and its obvious to me that he schedules his office visits to suit his needs, and not those of his patients.

Dr. Calhoun is the first doctor to get my Meniere's symptoms under control. Excellent specialist!
