Summary
In my years of doing this work, I have seen the biggest challenge for clients is in making that first appointment. The problems we face in life are difficult. The hurts we feel, impede our ability to problem-solve. I do not proclaim to have all the answers, but I truly love working with clients to find solutions that fit their situation.
In my practice I utilize both Cognitive and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy modalities to undergird my client-centered approach. Together we will explore and challenge the thoughts and actions that contribute to problems, along with developing a plan for practicing new ways of thinking and interacting with others.
Most of my clients are seeking assistance in diminishing the stressors in their lives. Family relationships; grief/loss; difficulties with parenting or accepting parenting; substance use; crises of faith...all these problems are present in my practice. Most are looking for direction; someone to help sort through the problem and achieve …resolution. They are distressed that they are at odds with family; concerned over the loss of control with substances; and some are wondering about their purpose in the world. These are the people with whom I enjoy working.
