Dr. Cameron K Rokhsar, MD

I consulted with Dr. Cameron Rokhsar after a biopsy confirmed basal cell carcinoma on my nose. During the consultation, I was told that reconstructive surgery following Mohs would not be covered by insurance, and I was referred to a self-pay plastic surgeon for a $400 consultation. I later requested the CPT codes, contacted my insurance company directly, and obtained a second opinion. I was told that medically necessary reconstruction following Mohs is typically covered when performed by an in-network surgeon. When I raised my concern with Dr. Rokhsar’s office and asked for an explanation, I did not receive a substantive response. Instead, I received a letter terminating the physician-patient relationship. I also requested electronic access to my medical records and did not receive a response to that follow-up request. I have filed a complaint with the New York State Office of Professional Medical Conduct. I would encourage patients to independently verify insurance coverage, CPT… codes, and reconstructive options before proceeding.

I would recommend Dr. Rokhsar to anyone seeking a knowledgeable, skilled, and compassionate dermatologist. His expertise, coupled with his attentive care, makes him a standout in his field. The treatment I received was top-notch. Dr. Rokhsar demonstrated exceptional skill and care. He was attentive to my comfort throughout the non-surgical procedure and was meticulous in his work.

I am sad to say that when I brought my concerns about two treatments I received to Dr. Rokhsar's attention, his immediate response was to act defensive, start quoting statistics from the product brochure, and proceeded to tell his narrative of events. He showed no compassion or care for my feelings. Instead of approaching the topic by stating that he was sorry that I felt this way ( after spending 4K!) and let's review the before and after photos together and discuss furthermore - his defensive approach left me wanting to leave the room to end the conversation immediately. Although, I trusted his clinical guidance, I felt let down by the results. When I asked how we reach a resolution - he said just buy more sessions ($$$$$$). I therefore promptly left the room and told him he lost a customer in which his response was "I don't want people like you anyway". I will assume that is "people like me" are those who criticize his guidance/ the outcome of his procedures. I think though that he… formely liked "people like me" who pay high rates ( but the catch is we expect results!). I would NOT recommended this practice. In NY there are plenty of other practices that will treat you with compassion and excellent clinical guidance - take your business elsewhere!

I was referred by my dermatologist a MOHS procedure for skin cancer and had my consult today. I had no wait time and was first seen by an assistant and then Dr. Rokhsar. He explained the procedure, answered all questions, and gave me written material. Next, the in office operation.

Staff was great and very helpful. Dr. Rohksar, on the other hand, gave the impression that he could not be bother with my concern nor my request for information. While communicating, tone was condescending and rude. felt very rushed and as if I was using up his time. Never. Again.

Several years ago, my mother was treated by Dr. Rokhsar for Moh’s surgery for a basal cell skin cancer. The treatment and healing went very well, and found this Physician to be skilled both professionally as well as personally. He was/is extremely kind, and always asks how my mom is when I have an appointment. He is spot-on in his skin assessments and treatments, and both my husband and I are patients. I remain pleased and recommend Dr Rokhsar without hesitation.

I called for an appt with Dr Rokhsar during the COVID-19 pandemic and was surprised to learn that he was open but was reassured when I was told that I needed to submit everything beforehand because no one sat in the waiting room and would be ushered into a room immediately. As instructed I wore a mask and gloves to the appt. When I got there I was surprised to see someone else in the waiting room and many to come after. The nurses, while lovely were sitting 6 inches not 6 feet apart from each other and not wearing gloves. After waiting 10 minutes I asked why I had to sit in the waiting room and they moved me to a room in the back where I sat for another 10 minutes before being moved to an examining room. Not once did I see the nurses wiping down any of the furniture or table tops in any room. 20 minutes later (40 minutes in total) the Dr arrives. When I told him that his office was not practicing safe COVID behavior he got insulted and started yelling at me without apologizing that… he kept me waiting for 40 minutes during this stressful time. After unpleasant back and forth he would not see me which was fine (I should have left much earlier). Upon leaving I saw 3 new people in the waiting room. When I asked a nurse why they didn't spread the appointments out I was told that it was the Dr's orders to book this many. Be safe. Do not go to this Dr. certainly now but based on his bad behavior, ever!!!

Dr. Rokhsar is the best doctor in the world!!!! I've had troubled skin my whole life and no doctor was able to relieve my sorrows. He was a God sent, treating acne size of a quarter, different types of lasers for acne scars, broken blood vessels... Talking about lasers, Dr. Rokhsar was the pioneer who developed a Fraxel laser! He's truly a visionary who received his education from Harvard. If you're looking for "the light at the end of the tunnel" Dr. Rokhsar can walk you there guiding you in every step of the way! I can finally say I have clear skin, and my confidence is through the roof! Thank you Dr. Rokhsar!! =)

Amazing staff...He did not care about my history...did not warn me of the pain of freeze treatment...it was so jolting I thought I was going to have one of my seizures..made him stop...no aftercare instructions. He referred me to a hospital who doesn't take my insurance..for surgery..and two Drs who had no hospital affiliations..He should take lessons from his staff...his staff was patient and understanding...I would give them 10 stars....
