Dr. Candace Rowland Pate, MD

Dr. Pate actually spends time with her patients. Doesn't think that she is doing you a favor, and doesn't treat you like an idiot. She specializes in pre-teen/tween/teen kids, so a perfect match for my 11 year old son.

Our son had been seen by many different Drs at Chippenham Pediatrics but many saw Dr Gilliam. At my baby's 9 month appt she wasn't available and we were scheduled with Dr Pate. She did the red eye relex test and said he failed it. She for 1 did the test wrong (was half way across the room instead of 1-2 feet away which we didn't know until after we went home and researched). So she says she is referring him to see a specialist but didn't go into much detail. Had to tell the nurse to have her come back in. We ask her what's the likelihood something wrong & she said oh 50/50. Said could cause blindness etc. it was in his right eye. To make a long story short we go to Virginia Eye Institute $75 later after copays etc & they say our son has exceptionally perfect eyes!! Hubby and I are convinced she was trying to refer us somewhere as I think they have deals/agreements to do this so they can make more money. I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine type deal
