Dr. Cara Leone Chiyok Kawahara, MD

Cara is sweet spoken but not a caring doctor. She is very easy to prescribe what you want not what you really need. She dosent have any keen oberservation to see how her patient is doing healthwise.

She wouldn't fill out the disability paperwork to ensure I was paid while suffering from mental health issues. Lack of follow-up communications. Doesn't seem to care for all her patients the same.

Dr. Cara is patient-oriented, and can translate patient symptom description into medical analysis. She's very knowledgeable and isn't in a rush to prescribe. Dr. Cara is a true family physician.

Not very friendly!

She is very unsure of herself. I liked her okay but for a doctor she let workman's comp bully her into thinking I was making up my symptoms. Refer her that would be a no.

I saw Cara for three years for my annual woman's exam and other visits in between. I kept on thinking that she would get better with each new visit but I was wrong. I expressed concern for many symptoms year after year and she did nothing until the third year when I got so frustrated that I sat crying in the exam room and said I want leaving until she did something about my concerns and symptoms. I am so anxious about finding a new doctor that I put up with her terrible care for years. I had to self diagnosis myself via the internet and then tell her to double check my research just to get any answers.

Dr. Kawahara was clearly on a mission to get in and out of the exam room as quickly as possible. I scheduled a new patient appointment and listed multiple concerns on my intake form, only one of which she seemed willing to address or even acknowledge. Why give us the intake form if you are going to ignore it? She did not arrange for follow up with me even after starting several new medications for my blood pressure and her staff is clueless, with poor attitudes to boot. If you are smart, you will get your healthcare elsewhere.

I'm middle-aged and see multiple health practitioners besides Dr. Kawahara at this practice for multiple issues. Dr. Kawahara is open to alternative treatments, consults with my other practitioners, and she trusts that I know my body better than she does. it's easy to get an appointment with her, and my wait time is almost always less than 5 minutes. She is very caring, not arrogant or dismissive at all. I've seen a few of the doctors in this practice, but Dr. Kawahara is by far my favorite.

I have been seeing Dr. Kawahara for three years, pretty much ever since she joined SW Family Physicians after her residency. She has been my doctor through two pregnancies, and has delivered both of my babies. She continues to be our family doctor and I can't imagine anyone else for my family. I really like the fact that I can make decisions about my health, and my children's health (namely vaccinations, or the decision to delay certain vaccines) without feeling like I am doing something terrible. She is also very supportive of breastfeeding, and extended breastfeeding, as I nursed my daughter for two years, and intend to do the same with my son (I'm a neo-hippy, what can I say). I am very happy with the relationship our family has made with this doctor and hope it continues as long as we live here.

I have never been to such a terrible doctor. She did not give me time to complete my new patient forms, aka medical history so she did not review it whatsoever. She did not listen to any of my problems or symptoms. Fastest appointment I have ever had, yet I am very sick.
