Dr. Carey C Thomson, MD

I can't say enough about Dr. Thomson. I was really, really sick and she got me in quickly and triaged my condition expertly - explaining and guiding me through a very complicated condition. She is warm, professional, brilliant, down - to - Earth and most importantly, calmly focussed on getting me better. Her follow - up appointments were always thorough and detailed. She spends just as much time going over test results as creating pro-active strategies. Her staff is equally dedicated. I have not had a doctor's nurse call me in quite some time, so it was amazing to have such attention when I called recently about a flare up. Within a few hours, I had an appointment with Dr. T and a plan to get me out of it - I was breathing easily within a day. I feel empowered now and trusting of my doctor. I am in such good hands. Even when healthy, I know I am still her patient and she cares about me and my condition. Could be the best and most knowledgable doctor I have ever had - lucky me… and lucky Mt. Auburn! She is a gem.

I have been seeing Dr. Thomson since 2013 when I was FINALLY referred to her. After almost 10 years of asthma, repeated respiratory infections and multiple pneumonias, I had been basically written off by my primary physician (and another pulmonologist). Dr. Thomson took great pains to investigate my medical issues and determine the diagnosis. First and foremost, she LISTENED to me. She is a skilled, perceptive professional who is also kind, thoughtful and warmhearted. Although she is a very busy doctor, visits are never rushed, and she is always attentive and caring. I tell everyone about her! She is my lifesaver, my “sainted doctor.”

I have been seeing Dr. Thomson for six years, and she saved me. I had been seriously ill for over six months without relief when I was referred to her. It was a remarkable experience to meet a doctor that 1) has time for me; 2) recognized my condition within minutes and knew what to do 3) and taught me how my lungs work, what was wrong and how I can take better care of myself going forward. It looks months to get well but the journey was filled with hope, comfort, and encouragement. It is empowering to know what is going on in your body, that your doctor knows exactly what to do each step of the way, and will walk you through each week until you are you back to yourself. Moreover, I much appreciate that even these years later I have many proven strategies to take care of myself when I begin to get sick so that I can prevent getting severely ill. Dr. Thomson is caring, dependable, has tremendous expertise, is patient, and is extremely professional. I have never had such a good… doctor before or since. I have recommended her to many friends and even my other doctors. I highly recommend Dr. Carey Thomson if you are looking for a gifted and kind pulmonologist.

I started being a patient of Dr. Thomson about five years after my wife joined her practice. I have many different and difficult medical issues and Dr. Thomson has been able to control not just my Asthma but my COPD. Dr. Thomson actually diagnosis the COPD and with the appropriate treatments I am able to survive. The Asthma sometimes does get out of control and Dr. Thomson subscribes the appropriate medications and I hardly have a problem with the Asthma/COPD. If I do she is a telephone call away and sees me sometimes the same day if not the next day. Recently, I had a life threating problem with my vascular veins in my legs and they ulcer rated to a severe level and I almost died. She took it upon herself when my primary care physician dropped the ball. She called up a Doctor who is in Mt. Auburn Hospital and the same day we got an appointment and the treatments have been a blessing (my both legs are saved). I would truly recommend her as a loving, caring, respectful, very… knowledgeable medical person who truly takes caring for her patients the above and beyond the line of duty and I truly mean it. For over twenty (20) years, I have had the pleasure in having a doctor who is usually there when I have needed her the most, as my Asthma is very unpredictable. I also have a heart issue and Type 2 Diabetes which can be a problem at times. She has been able to control my Asthma and not have the other two problems present themselves in a very serious way during my Asthma flair-ups. The medications she has me taking have controlled my Asthma. Recently, my husband of over 42 years got seriously ill. He was diagnosed with severe Venus vein structure and ulcer legs. She was instrumental in helping us not just find a Vascular doctor but have the Doctor see us the same day. Thanks To Dr. Thomson, my husband is now on the road to recovery, and we have Dr. Thomson to thank, as he could have died from this issue.
