Dr. Carl Douglas Malchoff, MD

I met with Dr. Malchoff for the first time today and was totally impressed with how thorough he was. I like the fact that he was the one to do the ultrasound on the spot and gave me his opinion as to the diagnosis. Total 5 stars in my book. The doctor I had been seeing before at UConn didn’t do a thorough background and didn’t seem that invested in my issues.

He is all over the place. UConn is very disorganized and he is a terrible communicator who lets his poor staff put layers between him and the patient. Clinically he can talk the doctor talk however, after many years with him I learned the hard way that there are much better endocrinologists in this area. He is a nice guy but, I would rather have a good doctor who is really invested in their patients and not in their own self importance particularly at a teaching institution. He should be a better role model for the residents and fellows and call his own patients!! Go to someone else..................

Dr. Malchoff was referred to me by another endocrinologist for one particular issued.. He focused on that and seemed disinterested in the other endocrinological symptoms that although lab work showed as negative were bothering me. His attitude was rather dismissive. Although he addressed the initial problem thoroughly, I didn't really feel comfortable. Electronic communication which I love is answered by snail mail which takes him a couple of weeks to respond so what's the point of having that service if he doesn't use it.

Dr. Malchoff has played an important role in my diagnosis and treatment. He has always answered all of my questions with very detailed answers. He is very easy to talk to and makes me feel comfortable at every visit. He is very knowledgable and makes sure you are aware of all of your options before deciding on your course of treatment. I will and have recommended him to friends and family!
