Dr. Carl E Nuesch, MD

My initial visit had me nervous, now knowing what to expect. When I met with Dr. Nuesch I knew I was in good hands; he took time to explain pre and post treatment plan and answered all of my concerns. His staff is so attentive, professional and responsive to any questions I have. I had 5 visits and each time I was met with the same kindness, professionalism and great care.

I got treated by him and his team 4 years ago 2 months after completing chemo and 1 month after mastectomy. I did really well during the 6 month chemo and also after the mastectomy. My oncologist checked my symptoms and reacted accordingly to alleviate them; I was given steroid to offset nausea and probably because of that, I didn't lose appetite and I didn't feel sick during the whole chemo. But once I started getting radiation, everything changed. Right after the first radition, I started feeling nauseated and lost appetite. I did mention this to Dr.Nuesch and he said it must not be from the radiation because people usually do well during radiation. So, this went on for 7 weeks. I got 37 radiation therapies and during that time I lost about 10 lbs. He saw me once everyweek, but he didn't prescribe anything to alleviate nausea and weight loss. Towards the end, I was so malnourished I fainted at work. My coworkers called Dr.Nuesch's NP and she said it had nothing to do with them, it… must have been chemo, so call my oncologist. The next day when I told her about how nauseated I was, she insisted radiation never causes nausea and I was just plain wrong. I go to survivors' meetings. I hear bad experiences with chemo which I didn't experience, good expereinces with radiation which unfortunately wasn't my experience, but I know that everyone reacts differently to treatments, and I've met several people who also had the same symptoms during radiation, they were nauseated, malnourished and that made them really weak, both physically and mentally. I believe good oncologists listen to their patients and try to help with the symptoms. But Dr.Nuesch and his NP never listened to me. They don't want to know what you really feel but they tell you what you should feel. Oh, one more thing that really got me upset was the cream they sold to me. I am estrogen positive and therefore, I avoid cream/lotions with paraben. But the cream they sold to me had paraben. The classic Dr.Nuesch/NP way of one thing fits for everyone solution. I don't recommend this Dr. to anyone.

When I had breast cancer, I insisted on all women doctors. It just felt more comforting to me to be in the care of those who might more readily relate to the possibility of losing my breasts. So I was skeptical when my doctors told me that Dr. Nuesch was the best. Then I had an appointment with him and learned why. I've never felt as safe and respected as I did with Dr. Nuesch. He was incredibly professional about the uncomfortable breast exams. And then he was also so personable and compassionate. He actually seemed empathetic to me. And he took the time to have a conversation with me rather than just reciting instructions and running out, as so many doctors I've seen. He was also careful to answer all of my questions and concerns about radiation, and he paid close attention to my treatment to ensure that I didn't get overly burned or worn out. I just can't say enough nice things about Dr. Nuesch.

Dr. Nuesch is extremely professional and highly knowledgeable AND has an excellent bedside manner. I was diagnosed with breast cancer, underwent a lumpectomy followed by radiation therapy with Dr. Nuesch. His dry wit and cheerful attitude coupled with a genuine interest in my life made all of the difference between getting better and getting well. Additionally, his nurse practioner, Grade, is gentle, patient, and very sweet. I recommend both of them without reservation.
