Dr. Carl Thomas Ortman, MD

I have a complicated medical history because of I’m immunocompromised. Dr Ortman took the time to do the research my very rare condition and works with my immunologist to keep me safe and healthy! I can’t recommend him enough! As a former nurse, I wish I had worked with such a wonderful physician; they are few are far between!!

Went to him for a physical, and he did not check the area where I was having a problem. I had to return for a second appointment and tell him again what was wrong in order for him to properly examine the area. Later on the office called me with test results and did not fully explain the results. Overall, communication and thoroughness needs improvement.

Went to him over mental health issues. I have an autistic, violent, abusive and homicidal 8 year old. He stuck me on benzos and then called me a drug addict when i asked him to raise the dose because they were not working at all. I fired him and put a bad review on google. He retaliated by sending me certified letters saying he fired me and again calling me an addict. I dont do drugs or even drink....i went to this idiot for help and ended up more stressed afterwards.... DONT GO TO HIM!!! he doesnt care about you at all regardless of what he says.

I am writing because I read the other review and have a very different opinion. I have been Carl's patient for at least 5 years. I have no serious chronic health problems, but see him for yearly checkups and for the usual acute medical problems that happen (in my case, primarily back injuries). I have always been able to see him within 24 hours, he has always spent an appropriate amount of time with me, asked the appropriate questions, been friendly and supportive. I have nothing but good to say about my every interaction with him, both with respect to long-term continuing care and treatment for acute needs. I cannot explain what went wrong with the patient who wrote the other review, but my experiences with Dr. Ortman are the complete opposite.

I was seen by Dr. Ortman three times. The first two times were okay. He is young and I felt like he was not sure of what to do with some of my test results. The third time I was injured and needed to see a doctor immediately. He seemed preoccupied and was in a hurry. Xrays were ordered. I waited for 45 minutes before the tech came for me. I was then taken back to the exam room. It was at the end of the day and it was very quiet. Finally, I hobbled to the nurses station to see if they would wrap my foot or give me any advice on what to do for my foot. They said they would check. Ten minutes later they told me to go. I was not given any information on treatment-just told to get an appointment with an orthopedist the next day.
