Birth control options to prevent unnecessary pain! I am so upset that Dr. Carl Sperling, MD did not explain female birth control options i.e. implant (Nexplanon), birth control shot, birth control patch, etc. for my painful menstrual cramps. I was recently diagnosed with dysmenorrhea. I am getting depo-Provera injections every three months. I don’t have any more cramps until nearing the end of my dosage. Yes, I told Dr. Carl Sperling, MD about having a hard time swallowing pills when he suggested Advil. So, I understand why he didn’t prescribe me naproxen. I wish he insisted that I give birth control a try. This would have prevented unnecessary pain. He knew I had unbearable pain every month because I told him the pain prevented me from going to work for two days out of the month because I needed to be near a toilet. I told him I would be laying on the floor complaining and screaming about unbearable back pain, abdominal pain, and headaches. I was a new patient and he also did not… suggest a return visit or run any tests– BAD PRIMARY CARE DOCTOR!

Dr. Sperling is awesome. I call in when something happens and he returns my call. He takes the time to get to know you and your problems. Great at helping me manage long term problems. He keeps me engaged in managing my health and takes as much time as it takes during appointments.
