Carlie Kay Naval, CNM

Carlie Kay Naval is a certified nurse midwife (CNM) at Intermountain Health’s Nurse Midwives Clinic – OB/GYN in Murray, Utah and LDS Nurse Midwives in Salt Lake City, Utah. She supports patients across the Salt Lake Valley providing the full-scope midwifery and women’s health care, including prenatal care, birth, contraception, mental health, and patient education. She performs procedures such as IUD and Nexplanon placement and removal, as well as treatment of Bartholin cysts. She supports patients through every stage of life—from adolescence through menopause. She offers prenatal care and attends labor and birth, while also caring for patients with a wide range of non-surgical gynecologic needs.

Carlie is passionate about supporting women through pregnancy and birth, which she considers a true honor. She views childbirth as a normal physiological process and is dedicated to protecting that process while prioritizing the safety and well-being of both mother and …baby. In the clinic, she enjoys birth control counseling and procedures, including long-acting reversible contraception (LARC), and finds it rewarding to help patients choose options that fit their goals and lifestyles.

Her philosophy of care is grounded in respect, trust, and partnership. Carlie emphasizes education, shared decision-making, and individualized, compassionate care that honors each woman’s values and experiences. Before becoming a certified nurse midwife, she worked for several years as a labor and delivery nurse, including in high-volume obstetric triage. She has practiced as a full-scope midwife since 2021 and serves as an adjunct nursing professor.

Originally from St. Anthony, Idaho, Carlie was born and raised on a potato farm. Outside of work, she enjoys running, listening to podcasts, baking, and spending time at home with her husband and three children. She is known by her patients for being attentive, approachable, and genuinely invested in listening to their concerns.
