Excellent surgeon and staff

Dr. Barba is a very skilled and professional doctor. Very good bed side manner. His staff is excellent also.

The whole process was a pleasure... Dr. Barba is such a sweet and gentle man as well as all the staff at his Harlingen office. Would definitely recommend he for the procedure I had.

I needed surgery ASAP.. went to ER and was so pleased w Dr Barba. Explained everything to me before surgery and made me feel very positive and relaxed...all turned out ok..thank you Doc.

When I scheduled my surgery with Doctor Barba three individuals at the hospital indicated that it is Dr. Barba's habit to schedule the patient for as many procedures as possible and that the doctor frequently would 'redo' the same procedure. After having an initial biopsy with him, he told me that I would have to go back into surgery again and that if I scheduled with an oncologist that it would have to be a doctor that he could "work with." I was given the name of 3 oncologists in the area. When I told him I wanted a a mastectomy on both breast with reconstruction he started yelling at me and told me that there was no one in the valley that could do that and slammed the office door as he exited. I went to Houston for the procedure. The oncologist found a significant size difference between what Dr. Barba's lab reported and the actual size on the original tumor. I was told no chemo treatment was necessary, and that it was actually counter indicated due to the small size of the tumor… that was reported incorrectly.

Bad Doctor

Please, please think twice and do your research about this Doctor. I had a horribly and scarry experience with this Doctor. What I was told should be a simple out patient surgery turned into a nightmare. Dr. Barba was suppose to put a portacath (for chemo treatment) in so that I could start my chemo treatments. I was rushed into prep and before I knew it I was out of surgery and waking up, I could not breathe because of the pain, I was told he nipped by right lung and that the portacath was traveling to the middle of my chest, they tried to contact Dr. Barba to come back to the hospital, and I was told that he was not answering his phone and already heading to the next town. I was given a lot of pain medication and taken to radiology, the Radiology Dr. told me that he had to remove the portacath because it was moving and that it was not put in right, and that my lung had been nipped, I could not stand the pain, and was having severe difficulty breathing. I had to be admitted to the… hospital, for several days, a tube had to be place in my lung because it had collapsed. Please do your research, had I read all of the ratings on here I would not have used Dr. Barba at all. Please let others know. If I could rate him with a zero star I would, unfortunately I must click on a star to get this review out to you. I am doing all I can to help others get better care.
