Dr. Carlos Alberto Cardenas, MD

Dr Cardenas is exceptional have been going to him for over 20 years. Diagnosed a melanoma and removed it. Dr Cardenas is very compassionate and always answers my questions. Highly recommended for his knowledge.

Fast pace, left office without the coupons they offered for meds and a referral for a mammogram, I was told I was done and told to follow the exits. I had to go back to get the referral. So now I’m at the pharmacy picking up meds and one of the meds was not called in. I called the doctors office and the receptionist transferred me and no one picked up. Then the pharmacist has the meds ready and says they have instructions to take the meds every 3 days this does not sound right so he calls the doctors office and it was the wrong instructions. The doctor was very nice but I feel I was rushed out of the office and they did not complete the job.

I have found during my illness that his recommendations are not to my benefit. He switched my RX Vitamin D to his own company when my levels reached optimal. Under taking his vitamins my levels plummeted again. I also have a history of heart palpitations. He just prescribed me phentermine (sp) which my cardiologist went ballistic when I asked if he thinks this is okay. Never going back and I will be reporting him for gross negligence.

Dr. Cardenas was very rude he did not answer my questions and shoved my surgery report in my face stating speak to your surgeon about it. I went in due to an ER visit my surgeon was out and I needed to see someone. I have no idea what the report states due the verbiage used. He walked out the room while I still had my underwear down and left the door open. He is very arrogant and lacks empathy. I will never see him again

This doctor gave me the wrong diagnosis. He diagnosed me with Hypothyroidism even though my Lab results came back normal. The medication he prescribed to me gave me manic depression, anxiety and insomnia. M.D Cardenas has his own company and makes profits selling vitamins and thyroid support medication so once you see him you do not become his new patient, you become his new client. I have filed a formal complaint with the TX Medical Board. The ironic thing is that I was only going to see him for a routine women's check up.

My appointment with this doctor was without any research. I moved to the area from Atlanta and wanted to find a good OB. Unfortunately, this person lack of bedside manner, or polite communication with patients, is more than a breach of etiquette it is arrogance and disrespect for women. He would not listen neither answered my questions. While I was changing he just walked in without a knock and during the examination he just parted my legs and was rough. I left that office feeling very humiliated. I am a teacher and of course will need to share this information with my colleague just as they do with me whenever we find a health professional that is good or bad.

very nice people and provider is just super understanding and willing to listen, and wasn't in a hurry to go to the next patient

Best doctor I've had in 30 years!!!

This review is about this location and the staff working for the staff working for the doctor Institute For Womens Health 1303 McCullough Ave Suite GL70 San Antonio, TX 78212 Called 2 days before and got appointment . Got the automatic message confirming the appointment. Called the front desk a day before the appointment and confirmed the appointment. Visited the hospital on the day of appointment and the Front desk told the appointment got cancelled and the doctor left. When we asked "who cancelled?" the response was "No idea". "Why we are not being informed ?" the response was "Sorry". "Can you please squeeze in with any other doctor ?" the response was "No" Worst experience

So far Dr Cardenas is the very best Dr I have ever seen!!! He really listened and cares about you! And after many many many doctors, he finally got rid of my hot flashes without pill! He also fixed my sex drive. All my issues he deals with and concours!! I just am so blessed to have found him!! And he's soooo sweet!!! Makes you feel comfortable to talk about anything!
