Dr. Carlos Manuel Cartaya, MD

Had information for us at first that seemed helpful for our daughter and her RSV she was dealing with at the time. Without divulging a whole long story, he made me not trust doctors. I want to trust doctors but with everything that happened.....I will avoid him going forward.

We took our daughter to the ER for a bleeding disorder and without her being stable and still no diagnosis he asked the next day if we wanted to be discharged.He never even checked labs to make sure where her hemoglobyn levels were. Also he never documented that she was even there and we ended again in the ER a few days later still with the bleeding disorder. Our daughter was admitted again. Now Insurance does not want to pay the bill because he never documented her stay. His excuse for not documenting her last stay was the computer had a "glitch". He is the worst Pediatrician, DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILD TO HIM!

Carlos Cartaya wrongfully admitted my newborn to the hospital in discrimination of being a home birth and needing extra supervision. Because he admitted him on a Friday he refused to release him until after the weekend despite having my midwife and our pediatrician on the phone telling him to release our son. He told us we are welcome to leave AMA but DCFS would be at our door before we got home. He ran unnecessary tests, kept an IV in our son ‘just in case’ with saline despite that he blew two IVs, he had him cathed so many times that our son was bleeding. He turned an absolutely beautiful experience into an utter nightmare. We stayed the weekend and left distraught and with a $4,000 hospital bill. This was in 2013 and Carlos Cartaya is the absolute worst Dr I have encountered in my 10 years of being a mother.

My 18 year old doctor lander in the emergency room in Tampa , Florida and I was in Pennsylvania. I was a wreck. Dr Cartaya treated her with exceptional care. She was in the hospital for a whole week and he continued to care for her the entire week. He gave me his cell phone number and made it very easy for me to ask a lot of questions. My daughter had a condition called rhabdomyolysis. Crazy spin class disease. The doctor helped her to get better and was very kind to her. I highly recommend him.

So, I got diagnosed with a MRSA infection on my face. Since I have such a complex case with two incurable diseases this was a very life-threatening as we were told by Three doctors. They admitted me to the hospital before they even found out what it was, they diagnosed me In the hospital after three days of antibiotics Dr. Cartaya sent me home. A short time after I followed up with my pediatrician who Grew angry at him and admitted me back in the hospital immediately. Another four days of antibiotics and he sent home. As the MRSA grew on my face I ended up getting rushed to the ER. They admitted me AGAIN for a week and he sent me home.... AGAIN! I ended up taking a high dose of antibiotics at home until it left Damaging my kindeys for good. All thanks to Dr. Cartaya. I'm on oral chemo to this day losing my hair and he always thought I was fine. Don't bring your kid to this doctor. He's just horrible.

OK as general pediatrician for routine care. Not knowledgeable about complex cases. Misdiagnosed our child and refused to refer to specialist. Had to seek specialist ourselves who gave us correct diagnosis. Good bedside manner does not equal quality in a physician.

My son needed emergency surgery when he was born. This MD was assigned to be his pediatrician (in addition to the specialists). He was very warm, caring, and took the time to make sure that I accurately understood my son's medical condition. He also checked in on us every day to make sure that we had everything that we needed. He also got rave reviews from the nursing staff at the hospital.
