Dr. Carlos E Picone, MD

I strongly urge others to AVOID. Arrogant, condescending, ignorant, cruel just a few words to describe Dr Picone. No bedside manners is one thing, but ignorant and truly uneducated is another. The definition of a bad doctor.

ecently Dr. Picone saw me at Suburban Hosp in MD & the experience was worst I've had in nearly 30 years of pulmonary care. Words fail to describe his bedside manner: Arrogant, condescending, impatient, & with a grand sense of entitlement as if he was doing me a favor by by consulting in my case. Never have I had to ask too see another MD until I crossed paths with Dr. Picone.

Like some others I found Dr Picone to be dismissive and somewhat arrogant. He believes he knows everything but completely missed my diagnosis. Likewise he misdiagnosed 2 other people with whom I have spoken.His appointments are abbreviated to say the least.

I’m genuinely surprised to see how different my experience was here from so many others who have posted reviews. I’ve never posted a negative review of a doctor before, but I feel it’s important that people have this information. In my experience, this doctor gave me very little opportunity to speak, contradicted everything I told him, and suggested that an anxiety-related condition had been misdiagnosed by “hospitals” as asthma when I’ve been seeing pulmonologists for my asthma for 14 years. He did not have my records yet and I had barely spoken in our meeting, yet he confidently declared (based on my lung function that specific day) that my case was totally simple (“nuts and bolts”). It is, in fact, not at all simple, and has challenged multiple excellent physicians before him, all of whom also recommended allergy shots, which he claimed were only effective in a few people, and strongly discouraged me from getting despite my explaining to him that I had success with shots in the… past. There were some observations or insights he made that were potentially useful (for instance, I am aware that a panic attack can make it feel like you can’t breathe) but it was completely outweighed by a level of arrogance I’ve never seen in a doctor before (I can tell the difference between anxiety and asthma). When I read all of the positive reviews, I started wondering if I was being over sensitive, but when I reached out to someone I know for a different pulmonologist recommendation, they had also seen this doctor, had the exact same experience, and decided not to return. Ultimately, I was not confident that if I had an asthma-related emergency, as I do several times a year, that I could trust him to take it seriously, and as asthma can literally be a life and death issue, it didn’t seem advisable to continue with him.

Dr. Picone takes the time to listen and answer my questions. Very attentive.

Dr. C Picone is a physician who truly cares about his patients, he is professional and attentive. I know without reservation that I have received the best care with him during the short time that I have been seeing him. I know that I'm being listen to and all my questions are being acknowledged and answered in details. Dr. Picone took time with me and provided a concise outline of my treatment options with full explanation. I highly recommend Dr, Picone, he has great bedside manner, is compassionate and very caring . His staff is also very professional and efficient. AP

Whether the visit is routine or extraordinary, Dr. Picone continues to be the consummate professional. In an age of quality sacrificed for speed, I have found his extensive knowledge and compassionate care most reassuring.
