Dr. Carlotta Lief Schuster, MD

Barely listened to me describe my very complex, layered mental health concerns before prescribing 5mg of Lexapro for only depression. Didn't ask me for details about why I was being referred to her, didn't do any bloodwork, nothing. I asked her many questions to be sure that this was the right treatment plan, and she got clearly annoyed & impatient with me, and dismissed my questions. At the end of the session (which only lasted 5 minutes -- I spent more time filling out the intake forms than being evaluated!), I gave her my therapist's contact info because my therapist insisted that the psychiatric treatment be a collaboration between them (due to the complex nature of my issues and my very unusual personal history). Schuster took the contact info and said she'd reach out, but then (you guessed it) never called my therapist. I took the Lexapro prescription because I was desperately suicidal at the time, but it later turned out I was allergic, so I had to wean myself off carefully over… a few weeks. Schuster is a lazy, incompetent, stereotypical psychiatrist who cares more about the $$$ than actually helping you heal. Avoid!
