Dr. Carmela Morales, MD

I moved to El Paso 4 months ago and need a new gastroenterologist... called to make an app. and was told that Dr. Morales requires a referral from my other doctor... that she is very strict with her patients and expects lots of discipline... once she reads your referral, she will decide if she will accept you as a new patient... and she wont see you if you have seen another doctor in the last 2 years...... I wonder if she only takes patients who are completely healthy? What makes her doubt my discipline?

I have not had the opportunity to see Dr. Morales yet. My primary physician made the referral, and I've been trying to schedule the appointment. My calls are answered by a voice mail system that asks me to leave a message. My calls are not returned. When I did speak to a live person, I was told they would call me back. The customer service is unacceptable.

I've been a patient of Dr. Morales for 18 years. Always thought she was a good doctor. She probably still is, until her affiliation with UMC Hospital. Problem with her office, is that it's literally impossible to contact them. You can call and call, and no one ever answers. Will NEVER return messages either. Actually have to call UMC Guest Services, in order to get response. I needed my meds, and insurance questions, but again, NO ONE ever answers the phone. So I had to go without meds. They've known about this issue for months, but did nothing! Had to go personally to order my meds. Spoke to nurse practitioner, IRIS MARTINEZ, the most apathetic, condensending person I have met. She made things much worse with her apathetc, unprofessional attitude. After speaking with her, I was convinced to just fire Dr Morales. Don't want anything to do with that practice any more. No proper patient care. No empathy. They have neglected their duties for to long. I'm sure I'm not the only one with the… same concerns. If you need proper patient care, I'd go elsewhere

She is a great doctor and a caring person. Very professional and knowledgeable.

Dr. Morales was thorough and was able to get me the right tests to diagnose my ailments and came up with medications and supplements to help me control my IBS and SBIOS. Her staff had days when they were helpful and days when they ignored me completely. I would definitely recommend her, although perhaps her office needs some staffing changes.

Dr. Morales is an excellent doctor. She diagnosed me and treated me for those conditions she diagnosed me as having, and my symptoms went away. However, I had a bad reaction to one of the medications that she gave me and had a lot trouble getting in touch with her staff to get a medication change. I finally decided to stop the one of the medicines that I was put on because of the adverse reaction I was having.

I have 6 doctors that I see consistently and Dr Morales is one of the best. She's caring, competent and takes the time to ask the questions and actually listen to the answers. I believe this is how doctors can most efficiently treat their patients. I would recommend her time and time again! Love her!

This doctor is caring and I trust her. Her practice is in order and I always felt like I was in good hands. Her nurse practitioner was awesome too. I would highly recommend her.

Dr. Morales is a competent physician, but the office staff is very indifferent to the patient. I came in for a follow up exam, and sat in an examining room for an hour after my appointment. When I talked to the receptionist, she told me the P.A. had to go to urgent care. It never occured to this idiot to tell me this when I walked in the office. I did reschedule, but I waited so long I got my co-pay back, and left the office never to return. Needless to say, I will never use this doctor again.
