Dr. Caroline Greer Ferris, MD

Dr. Caroline Ferris was in charge of my husband’s care at the Dallas VA Hospital. My husband was a Service connected Vietnam Vet. He was there for a Whipple Surgery. Dr. Ferris was the Head of SICU at the time. My husband went in to bradycardic arrest (in the OR) and had to be brought back to life. Dr. Ferris was by Mike’s side in the SICU when he awakened after being taken there after surgery had to be aborted. She was compassionate, thorough, honest and one of the finest people I have ever met. Dr. Ferris suggested was frank with us and suggested we get my husband to MD Anderson Cancer Center as soon as possible. We did do and MD Anderson did a thorough work up and conclude that the pancreatic mass had not become malignant as the VA had suspected and that it was in my husband’s best interest not to have the surgery at that point due to due to his other serious health issues. Dr. Ferris gave us her personal cell phone number and we have been in touch several times since. My… husband and I were so thankful for the professional and personal level of care that Dr. Ferris gives to her patient. She is a skilled physician and a compassionate person and as far as we are concerned, one of the finest physicians we have ever had. My husband had four more years of life because of her expert care than he would have otherwise had. You see even though the surgeons at the VA pressured us by saying “we want it out and we want it out now!” We took her advice and got a second opinion at MDAnderson. My husband passed away last August but he never needed that Whipple surgery. He passed away from Bladder cancer and other complications from his exposure to Agent orange in Vietnam. Dr. Ferris was available by phone (personally) during those years when I had a question or needed answers. She has been kind, compassionate and professional and I highly recommend her. You won’t find a more another Dr. who cares and goes the second mile as she does. Dr. Ferris is top notch in every respect and I consider it a honor to highly recommend her. She is plain and simply one of the finest, most skilled and compassionate physicians I have ever met.

I felt very at ease with Dr. Ferris when she was treating my father. He was very sick-and our family knew that-but Dr. Ferris helped to give us more time with him. Time I will treasure. Dr. Ferris knew exactly what to do and kept us all well informed.

Very knowledgeable and friendly

Dr Ferris took great care of my grandpop when he was admitted with a GI bleed. She gave us options and told us what to expect. We could tell she really cared.
