Dr. Caroline Dennis Mathew, MD

My thyroid TSH level was low and the doctor just said, "It's not that low" and did nothing. She also did not know to perform other necessary blood work to test for the underlying conditions related to thyroid. This should be basic to the knowledge of an internal medicine doctor. When I first met this doctor, I thought she gave me ample time and listened and was responsive, but over time she proved to be autocratic and while she still gives me time, she lacks the ability to adapt to new information and truly integrate what I report into her treatment plan. She actually just said, "I know more" and I would prefer a doctor that said "I will look into that." If you see her for the basics, you better do your homework, because she is not doing hers. Fortunately, I have seen other doctors in Ann Arbor that have taught me things and I do use the internet and read books. She ONLY APPEARS to listen, but in the end it is not substantial and she will not allow herself to learn from you or… what other doctors even write to her in a letter. I hate to think of an elderly person under her care, without the energy or strength to stand up to her. Anyway, I don't have time to try to educate her. I, for one, am moving on.

I started seeing Dr Mathew about 8 years ago. I was left untreated and misdiagnosed for too many years by other Drs.My very first visit she figured out why I was in chronic pain. She sent me to physical therapy to get me moving better then she sent me to a specialist that did surgery. She gave me my life back. Drs staff goes above and beyond with courtesy, promptness.They treat me as an individual not just a patient. I have read complaints here about her looking at the electronic chart too much. I talk to her and she listens and answers me while looking at the chart. It's called "Multitasking ".or weight and blood pressure were put in before we see her ,she is checking for changes and other significant patent information that's important to our health. I believe that Dr Mathew loves her job and truly cares about her patients. She is very good at what she does. Also the in office wait times is very short. D.May

Dr Matthew was an caring Dr. She did her job as a Dr. , I was refused appt. at my worst. Her staff unprofessional, belittling to pt. and do not deliver messages to Dr. I do believe this cause undo stress to a a patient. I was discussed among the staff as was told to me. I am glad to leave the stress. This is all when I need "My Dr." the most. I did not receive care.

I have gone to Dr Mathew for a while now. I find both her & the staff very professional. courteous, and friendly. If I have questions, Dr Mathew has answered. Her staff has also been very important in my care. They do not hesitate to help you. I would recommend this office to anyone looking for someone that looks out for them

Dr. Mathew is very soft-spoken. I bring my husband along to catch what I may not hear.

She is an excellent doctor, one of the best I've dealt with.

dr mathew looks at her tablet, doesn't make eye contact, is too quiet, maybe shy. still waiting for test strips for my pt,inr, what is the problem ? can't see the supply is running low ? no, i'm not going to have a tube of blood taken out of me for a few drops ! please get the office manager to do their job !

After having gone through 2 PCP's in the past 2 years, I was happy to find Dr. Matthew.She treats both my husband and myself. We thank Dr. Matthew for creating an avenue for my husband to quit smoking. However, I have come to know that it is MY responsibility as well as Dr. Matthew to make sure I am getting the needed treatment and follow up. Additionally, I am hard of hearing and Dr. Matthew is so soft spoken that I have trouble. The staff has been most helpful and friendly in this matter and has admitted they too, have trouble from time to time. Communication is key and usually I bring my husband along to catch what I may have missed. I am ushered to the patient room before or on my appt time but there is always a 20-25 minute wait for Dr. Matthew.

I've been going to Dr. Matthew for a long time now. I have refered many family and friends to her practice. She is on top of things! She doesn't stop until she figures out the problem! She is kind, curtious and genuine. Her office staff is also on top of things! Would recommend her to everyone!

She has a very soft mannerism and is very soft spoken. The staff in the office are wonderful and there is a lab locate in her office. Great doctor!
