Dr. Carolyn Annette Bay

Dr. Bay diagnosed my son at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh - Genetics. She diagnosed him with Rubinstein Taybi Syndrome. She had an horrible bedside manner. She told me my son would not amount to anything and I should put him in a institution. My son is turning 23 in October and he is progressed very nicely. I am sure glad I didn't listen to her.

Dr. Bay is a very poor physician.

22 years ago Dr. Bay was the only doctor at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh who took the time to actually listen to us and to express empathy. She worked endlessly to provide the help we needed at a bad time. For 9 months the doctors kept on saying that our son had a neurological disease yet could not provide any answers. Dr. Bay was the first on to question their though process. Her theory was that our son's problem was metabolic in nature and she felt that he could not break down his long chain fatty acids. She was correct and after treating him with over the counter MCT oils, in less that 2 days he was a normal boy. At the time FADs (fatty acid disorders) such as LCHAD and MMCAD had only recently been discovered. She saved our son's life and also countless others.

As an occupational therapy practitioner working with Dr. Bay on numerous occasions, I have found her level of care and compassion far above "normal" in the medical field. She exhibits complete professional behavior, even during hectic or emergent situations. I have augmented my trust in pediatric physicians through Dr. Bay, and strive to hold the same values/morals/ and ethics as she. Dr. Bay has always incorporated me, giving value to my profession and my opinion. Dr. Bay is encouraging; she has challenged me to be the best, and provide the best care for my patients. You will be hard-pressed to find a doctor with an equal bed-side manner, knowledge, and compassion.

Dr. Bay is a fabulous doctor! She is always wonderful during our clinic appointments. She instructs us in a very clear way regarding safe practices and how to handle emergency situations with our childs condition. Her skills as a doctor, teacher, and a healer truly amaze me. She also personally cares about every one of her patients and wants the absolute best for them. We totally trust Dr. Bay with our childs life and we just love her! Dr. Bay is truly the superhero among physicians!To give just one example of Dr. Bays dedication and skill, our child had a lengthy hospital stay recently because of a metabolic condition. When we took our child to the hospital, Dr. Bay was standing right outside of our childs ER room to meet us, which totally alleviated our fears and trepidation about having our child in the hospital. She personally made sure that our childs medication was set up immediately upon our arrival and that all of our childs medical and personal needs were met without… delay. Throughout the stay, Dr. Bay managed my childs care constantly and consistently and was physically present at the hospital for the first 24-hours of my childs stay and then on a very regular basis after my child was stabilized. It was like having our own personal physician for our child. Dr. Bay also stayed in very close touch with the nurses regarding our childs vital signs and other important medical data every 30 minutes around-the-clock for our entire stay. She was completely on top of everything and really took amazing care of our child. Dr. Bay is extremely knowledgeable, caring, easy to talk to, and you will not find a better physician!

Dr. BAy is an amazing physician who goes the distance for her patients. She is readily available, completes through exams and takes time to make sure that I as a parent and lay-person understand the dynamics of our son's illness. When we have an appointment with her, it's as though our son is the only child in her care, we have her undivided attention and leave her office with a plan and understand what we are supposed to do next. Our little guy is never fearful of his visits as she takes time to interact with him. It's sad that there aren't more physicians out there like Dr. Bay.

Dr. Bay saw my daughter through a difficult time with deep understanding, knowledge, and great care. She was available all hours of the day and night to discuss questions or concerns. She treated all people around her with kindness and respect. She would be the first doctor we would consult to care for a child with genetic problems. I highly recommend Dr. Bay.

Seemed at times somewhat abusive with staff and inappropriate with them. She appeared to have a morbid curiosity for my child, and examined him as though he were a freak of nature.
