Dr. Carolyn Ann Bernstein, MD

This doctor has very bad manners and ethical problems. No introduction, treating me like I am lab rat, making decision before reviewing a whole case, inviting assistants and not introducing them, jumping into one of those diagnosis "I don't how to diagnose you, so I will give a name of a typical pain". She wanted to put me on medication during first visit and I told her I am looking only for a second opinion. Once I questioned use of gabapentin she jumped into monolog about contraceptives and how she won't treat me unless I am on contraceptive. Maybe this doctor should think about change in her carrier and become GYN. Then she suggested not evidence based practice (sounds like ethical concern to me) and took pen out of my hand when I was taking notes. I also work in medical field and I am really questioning her ethical conduct and adherence to ethical code.

I've suffered from migraines since I was five years old. Over the years, they have flucuated wildly at different times in my life. In my 40's, I found myself having cluster migraines for weeks at a time, and decided to find a specialist who could try to help me. Fortunately, I found Dr. Bernstein. She identified the cause of my latest migraines, put me on a couple of new medications and also wrote up a "portable" script/doctor's note, so I could walk into my medical clinic & get a special shot in case of a very bad migraine. That script has proven to be very helpful on many occasions. Her staff is very helpful and responsive, there is minimal waiting time in her office and Dr. Bernstein has a great bedside manner & will spend whatever time it takes to figure out how to fix those pesky migraines. I am so happy that I found Dr. Bernstein & recommend her to any migraine sufferer.

Dr. Bernstein made me feel that I was a part of her research rather than a patient she was interested in treating. It was one type of medication after another, none of which helped. They did offer trigger point injections, however, which did help for a few days at a time. I stopped going because I don't want more medications to treat symptoms. I want to treat the root of the problem and, if possible, treat that. Anyway, I'm sure she's well-respected among her peers, but her "bedside manner" telegraphed "I don't care about you, I care about what I'm trying to prove by treating you." I could be wrong, of course! But that was my vibe.

After 25 years of being misdiagnosed, Dr. Bernstein finally found my problem.

Awful was given an 8am appt traveled 3 hours stayed overnight and then told the appt was booked incorrectly and they could not see me. Told office manager would call and it never happened

After years of suffering from migraines I was not only impressed with their minute attention to my medical history, but also the easygoing atmosphere of the office. Their patientsite system makes contacting the doctor or refilling prescriptions easy and accessible. Overall a wonderful office of health care providers who are truly knowledgeable about neurological trauma

Very nice bedside manner, although it feels as if she's in a hurry. Basically, Dr. Bernstein doctor is a migraine medication dispenser. I've been to see her a number of times and this seems to be the extend of her abilities - writing scripts for triptans (which don't work for me). As a long time migraine sufferer, I had high hopes, but quickly realized that she's not interested in the often complicated process of migraine problem solving for the individual.

We waited months to obtain an appointment with Dr. Bernstein to help our daughter with her daily migraines. Dr. Bernstein was most unhelpful, and insisted that our daughter's condition was improving despite her incessant headaches! She advised our daughtoer to take riboflavin and come back in 4 months (!!) for a follow-up visit. This initial vist was a HUGE disppointment and a complete waste of our time! We are moving on, and going elsewhere since Dr. Bernstein does not appear to be interested in helping us.

She has a nice bedside manner in person and I had high hopes for her. She made me feel like she would be plugging away to help me long term. Unfortunately, I have been most disappointed. Felt like she passed me off to another dept then had NO follow up. Got constant emails about seminars and excercise programs that were NOT helpful. She needs to work on her follow through with patients who have chronic headaches and DON'T respond to other treatments. It was a BIG letdown.

I have Intractable Migraine, which basically means that I'm suffering from at least some kind of migraine symptoms all of the time. Dr. Bernstein has helped me with my migraines more -- by far -- than any other doctor I've seen for my condition. She is kind, patient, and really listens to me. She is also a great diagnostician and is up on all the latest research. I trust her. And I highly recommend her to anyone who has migraines.
