Dr. Carolyn Jean Boone, MD

Anthem chose this provider for me when my son was born. First visit to her office the whole waiting room smelled like marijuana. Not her fault but her responsibility to keep her office drug free. No way she didn’t know. It was a very strong odor even in the exam rooms. The wait is always loooooong with her. If your appointment is at 11 am you get seen at 1 pm because she likes to talk about herself and will tell you her life story each time. Very sweet lady but that doesn’t help when my son is sick or I’ve waited 2 hours for vaccines. At 6 months of age a VA COLLEGE student took my son out of my arms to get a weight on him. We didn’t think much of it as Quana (her best nurse) always held him. Well the student sat my son up on the scale and stepped back. My son was wobbly at sitting up on his own at that time. And before we knew it and i could run and catch him, he fell forward and smacked his face on the wooden guard rail of the scale. I voiced my concern to Dr Boone once she… finally came in for the appointment and she blew it off like it was nothing. At the 9 month visit i learned her nurse Quana was no longer with them and she was the reason we decided to stay throughout the problems, she was great with my son. When i asked the other nurse about her, the nurse said “shes no longer with us, dont ask me where she is, I dont know!” Also at 9 months i was informed that there would be blood taken for lead testing. I called for 3 weeks looking for results. After finally having enough i decided to take my son elsewhere. I tried to get medical records to register my son elsewhere and they would not assist me in process, instead kept telling me they would not release me records that the new dr would need to request them and i kept telling them that the new dr needed the records to be able to register my son as a patient, they didn’t care, instead the head nurse put me on hold and never picked back up. When i hung up and called back she would pick up and hang up. I had to go to their office to cancel the 12 month appointment because they would not pickup the phone when i called. The patient portal is how i retrieved the records. At my 12 month appt at the new dr i was informed my sons lead levels were never ran at 9 month bloodwork and that a CBC was ran instead and my sons hemoglobin was low at 9 months and he needed vitamins with iron. We re-ran the bloodwork at 12 months and it was even lower so my son needed to be on an iron supplement for months and wasn’t. Dr Boone is sweet but she honestly needs to retire. People bring children to doctors for physicals and sick appointments, not neglect and to listen to her career path story 50 times. Also i was informed by my new dr that medicaid covers routine physical appointment co-pays with vaccines and there is no co-pay so i am unsure why they kept collecting $2 from me numerous times if Anthem covered it. But they owe me my money back. Please find another provider if you care about your child(ren) and your time.

Dr. Boone was my grand kids physician almost 20 years ago. I love her. She was excellent. A lovely person, who truly cares about her patients.

She is the best

Dr. Boone is a phenomenal doctor who definitely is in medicine because she loves it. She is passionate about what she does and always learning more. She cares not just for her pediatric patients but for the entire family. It took me sevetal pediatricians before I found her, but I will never take my kids to anybody else.

Dr. Boone is an outstanding doctor. I always reccomend her to people. She is caring and really knows her stuff. I will someday hope to take my grandkids to her.We just love her and her office staff.

Dr. Boone is the best. She was my doctor as a child and she is now my daughter's doctor. She definitely takes her time with all patients & treats everyone like family. I highly recommend her and her caring staff.

Dr. Boone is a wonderful doctor who cares not only about her patients, but the entire family. She spends as much time as needed with each patient and never rushes patients off.

Dr.Boone is a excellant pediatrician! She has been my children's pediatrician for 17 years and has never miss diagnosed neither been anything other than caring for my childrens and there medical needs. I would reccomend her for any child beacuse she is not just a doctor but she allows her knowledge and personal positive being to make any parent feel secure with her treatment as well as reccomendations.

Dr. Boone was my childhood doctor, so when I had kids naturally I went to what was familiar to me. I was sadly disappointed to discover that the office atmosphere was not at all how it was when I was little. The nurses are not professional, I remember missing a heart appointment because I was sitting in Dr. Boone's lobby for 5 hours, no exaduration! And it wasn't just once in a while, it was every time I went. She had a few first patients that walked out or claimed to never come back, although I don't know if they did or didn't. Dr. Boone is the sweetest woman you could know though, and she also takes her position very seriously
