Dr. Carolyn Denese Ellis, MD

Ellis runs a business oriented practice designed to achieve optimal outcomes for the practice, but not necessarily for the patient. She places a premium on having patients who will dutifully come to many appointments. The physical exam was painful in ways that were entirely unnecessary. She is very aggressive in ordering tests and procedures. In my case these turned out to be time consuming, unpleasant, and unnecessary. If you are a hypochondriac who wants to spend a lot of time in the doctors office while getting many intrusive tests (and you are anxious enough to allows arrive to your appointments early) then Dr Ellis is the one for you. Otherwise, I suggest that you look elsewhere.

Dr Ellis is a very thorough doctor. We give her our highest recommendation.

I was so sorry to leave Dr. Ellis. I was a patient of hers for over 5 years and always had a good office visit. Her staff, medical and business were the best also, kind and thoughtful. The only reason I left her practice was because she moved into the city of Pittsburgh, the old Gimbles Building. I was use to her office in Shadyside, as I had seen a doctor in the same building (Aiken) previous to her and I also frequented the Hillman Cancer Ctr. I don't drive in the city of Pittsburgh, never did, don't know my way around at all. I live in the suburbs, a 15-30 minute app't would be an all day event.

I find Dr Ellis to be very attentive to details, always contacting me immediately with test and lab results, willing to refer to specialists as needed, and very knowledgeable about her field. She may appear to be a little cold in manner at first, but I have found her to be a very caring person and an excellent physician, just a little reserved in her own demeanor. I trust her completely and have a very high regard for her ability and dedication to her patients.

Always outstanding care. I have been Dr Ellis's patient for many years, and will never leave her. She is a true professional!

worst doc ever...rude and abrupt..thinks she knows everything

Very professional with emphasis on preventive medicine. She follows up on patients and will refer for testing or other doctors when she feels it is necessary.

Has to be one of the worst doctors that I have ever gone to.She was very abrupt with me. I had a pain in my hand and she felt it and said nothing was wrong. When I went to my original doctor, she told me it was the start of a ganglion cyst. Very painful.She also ordered my medicine through the computer before she had even examed me, and it turned out to be wrong.The whole experience that I had with Dr. Ellis was surely the last. She is a doctor I would never go back to, or for that matter, refer to anyone else to go to.
