Dr. Carolyn Sue George, MD

I'm going to start by saying I do not like to leave bad reviews unless I think it's absolutely necessary, I usually will not say anything. Unfortunately I have to with this experience. I have been searching for a Holistic/Functional Practitioner for the past month and going on many consultations. After reading a lot of positive reviews online about Dr. George and her team at VIDA I decided to move forward with them. The complimentary consultation was with Dr. George's PA Kerry and she was very nice and said all the right things, helping my confidence in making the expensive $400 decision to do the first appointment. Her patient coordinator Sally and office personnel Claudia were very attentive prior to my first appointment, answering email questions and taking my phone calls to help go over details and get them the information they needed from me so I could schedule that first $400 appointment. I had my appointment with Dr. George, which was just an exploratory appointment… where I mainly spoke about my issues. But Dr. George was very nice and pleasant. At the end of the appointment she told me to start this detox diet and that her team would be in touch to schedule the next appointments and decide on the program plan. Dr. George emailed me the details of the detox plan, with specifics on allowed foods and all. There were some red flag items listed on the detox plan that I have read a lot about, but being that I always give the benefit of the doubt, I replied that evening to Dr. George's email to me asking for some clarification on a few items that I have read are not good for anyone's health, especially someone with chronic gut inflammation issues. But again, I inquired as maybe there was a reasonable explanation for why those items are listed on the detox plan. That was Wed night, it is now Tuesday afternoon of the following week and zero response from Dr. George. It's very disheartening as I spent $400 without ever having met her or known how she works because I had faith in the reviews I read, which is why I have to share my experience here so people are not misled by some of the nice and fuzzy reviews only. This functional medicine path is not cheap and it's a shame that I could not even get a response back from her clarifying the red flag items listed on the diet I was given. In addition to this Sally, the patient coordinator, reached out the afternoon following the appointment to schedule the next visit. We played phone tag and by the time we finally connected it was late in the day so I was not able to get the supplements that Dr. George had wanted me to start ASAP bc they are closed on Friday's so I had to wait until Monday, which is fine. But I also told Sally I was waiting for an answer back from Dr. George about the diet so she is now aware also. Monday came and went and no call from Sally to follow up with scheduling the future appointments nor to get me my supplements. I emailed Sally and Claudia, who previously responded to my emails in a timely manner when it was to get me in for the $400 appointment, but have both been unresponsive since last week. It's not right that there is zero follow up given to a question posed on a detox diet I was prescribed to start by Dr. George. It's disheartening as I paid my $400 so the least the Dr could have done was reply to my email. I will not be moving forward with this Doctor and would highly caution others to make sure you are crystal clear on how they work and that you will probably not get any response or help if you have a question about anything. Maybe they only work best for people who have zero knowledge of anything, but if you do have some knowledge and ask a question my experience tells me they are not interested in helping people like you. I also cannot work with a Doctor that I have to question the quality of nutritional advice I'm given, as some of it is contradictory to what I have read from all of the top functional practitioners in the country. And even with that I was willing to hear her explanation about it as I always give the benefit of the doubt but we're almost 7 days since the appointment and no response, which coupled with the lack of follow up from her team shows me they have no interest in doing the right thing and are more motivated by the money than in actually helping people. In this functional medicine/holistic journey the patient pays a lot of $ in order to be guided and told what to do from a trusted practitioner who cares. Not to be advised about something that may cause even more harm to my already inflamed system and then who ignores you when you question it. I am grateful for this experience as I have learned my lesson for the future and have asked some questions off the bat in the complimentary consultations that I should have asked Dr. George before paying her $400 for nothing.

Love love love Dr. George! Only one who ever worked with me to figure out the root cause of the problem and not just throw medicine at it

Dr. George has the qualities of an "old fashioned" doctor spending a long time with me going over my medical history. I was just going in for my annual checkup. She wasn't in a rush and just didn't throw medicine at me like many doctors today do. She spent time explaining possible concerns and set a plan of action to attack the fundamental problems I was having... not just addressing the symptoms. She showed concern for my long term well-being and designed a program to get me to optimal health. I am so glad I found her and I HIGHLY recommend her.

She was the most patient ER Doctor I've ever meet!

She was very thorough and seemed to care about me as a person. Very knowledgeable.
