For parents with concerns about their little ones being on the spectrum, STAY AWAY from this doctor. I'm dumbfounded her specialty includes autism. I came to her with concerns about my son, who was displaying a myriad of symptoms at the age of 2. I previously saw her assistant for the same reasons. Both didn't think autism was the reason and noted the solid eye contact he had. Yet he wasn’t responding to his name; displaying self-injury behaviors; tiptoeing; sensory issues; self-feeding issues; echolalia; finger flicking; etc. Dr. Cuffman did the ADOS test and somehow concluded he wasn't on the spectrum. We went to another specialist quickly after & received a formal diagnosis right away. Since then, ALL of my son’s doctors, therapists & EI specialists have been surprised that Dr. Cuffman didn't see the obvious. So much valuable time was wasted for EI because of this. ABA & DIR therapies require a diagnosis! If you're getting the same runaround from inept doctors, LISTEN TO YOUR GUT,… be your child’s advocate, and go elsewhere.
