Dr. Casey Clifford Bachison, MD

Had surgery 2 years ago. I awoke with extreme nerve damage. I'm still in more pain than I was pre-surgery.

Dr Bachison is one special doctor. He goes the extra mile with me every time I have need of his services. I have back and neck issues that I have to have injections for the pain when it gets so bad my day to day pain becomes unbearable. He understands the need to get relief (he has had to have epidural injections himself) and makes the effort to get me right in. Thank you Doc!!! Our community is fortunate to have such a great talent doctor that cares for his patients.

Been three times, was seen by three different people,, the Dr and 2 pa's.got three different diagnosis from bursitis to ' consider surgery'.

It is good to find a doctor that carese so much about his patients.

His version of an epidural is a small shot in the neck. He must have thought I was retarded! I experienced much grief and agonized over the ACDF procedure until I saw someone else who said it was normal degeneration with a bulging disk, sometimes compromising the C6 exit nerve, but not worth having a risky surgery.

I first met Dr. Bachison on an emergency from a multiple fracture on a Sunday morning. I was told at the ER at McKay that surgery would be mandatory to fix the 3 way break. Today I feel I was the luckiest person to have had Dr. Bachison be the doctor on call that Sunday. He came in and talked with me after I got settled into my hospital room & went over what would be done to my leg in the surgery. I was very upset, anxious and in a lot of pain. He helped me feel much more at ease & took care that I didn't suffer until that afternoon when I could get the surgery done. After surgery I was in horrible pain, he took time to try different meds until he found something that helped the pain. It was a complicated surgery and it took many months to heal, I had many appointments over those months, in which I met Dr. Dille, his assistant who was always at Dr. Bachisons side. During the time I was healing from the leg/ankle fusion I was able to obtain medical insurance. I noticed a lot of… informational partial spines in his offices and found out that Dr. Bachisons specialty was the spine. For 10 years I had been suffering with my neck and my back. After my leg was on its way to healing well from the fusion he started looking into my neck issues, first X-rays, then MRI, then some physical therapy, then 2 separate Epidural/Steroid injections a few months apart. None of the treatments were helping, actually making things worse so we decided, not just him, but WE decided together that the best option to alleviate the increasing pain & numbness was to do a low back fusion, this was not an easy decision for me since I have a quadriplegic uncle and that was a lot of worry and anxiety on my mind. I however did feel confident and comfortable with Dr. Bachison and Dr. Dille at his side, so I had the fusion done, ended up having to have 4 vertebrae fused in my neck. After several months I realized this was the best decision I ever made, the daily headaches and spasms were nearly gone with just some occasional pain which is to be expected but went from a 10 pain almost all the time to a 3 or 4 occasionally and no pain at all too. Next was my low and mid back pain I have had over 10 years, there were times I couldn't bend over to pick something up off the floor for over a year, but the day to day pain and discomfort was gettng worse and worse. He had an MRI on my low back that had not been done for 9 years and it showed all the different problems going on. Tried some physical therapy and it aggravated it much worse. Had Epidural/Steroid injection that did not help at all and gave me terrible side effects (I didn't realize the neck injections caused the side effects till I had it done in my back) so again was informed that a surgical fusion should take the pain and numbness away. I seriously can say it would have been almost impossible for me to brave this risky surgery if I wasn't 100% comfortable with Dr. Bachison and his assistant Dr. Dille. After the surgery, my back was not cooperating with the fusion, I seem to have very sensitive nerves and they were what the doctor called MAD. I was in terrible pain on one whole side to my toes, so Dr. Bachison did another MRI and went back in after a month to make sure everything was right, that a bone fragment wasn't pressing on a nerve, etc.. I am still recuperating but I am confident it was nothing Dr. Bachison did or didn't do, I have nerves that are not common for some reason. Dr. Bachison greeted my husband and I at every appointment, has never rushed me through the door and has always taken the time to listen to what is going on with my recovery. Dr. Dille has had an excellent teacher too, I have seen him one on one also and he is top notch. I also have to take the time to commend the nurse Timmy, who always would greet my husband and I and personally take an interest in my progress and improvements while he input my information while in the examination room. I also commend the super nice woman (I apologize for forgetting her name) who took all those X-rays, she was always pleasant and nice. I see some people here on this site complain that the appointment waiting time is too long but you have to remember there are sometimes emergencies, and he wont rush you out just to stay on a timeline, so I do not mind if I have to wait a little while, if you get a good doc, its worth it.

On my first visit, I was welcomed warmly and shown my X-Rays and MRI. I was not rushed by Dr. Bachison and he took time to tell me about my condition and possible treatments. However, after doing physical therapy he had recommended the pain came back and I called in for an emergency appointment in great pain and the office staff was most unhelpful saying I could not get in to see him sooner than a month. I suffered with pain for that month and at the next visit to him, I waited an hour and I saw his physician assistant not Dr. Bachison. It was very upsetting too as II did not get my problem resolved by talking to the physician assistant. I was very disappointed as I had many things to discuss with the doctor about alternatives. He is way overbooked. I also was upset as I had to pay $50.00 to see a physician's assistant and not the physician. Dr. Bachison came highly recommended but my experience was fair.

I think we all need to realize that when you have a Dr. who cares enough to sit down with his patient and explain things it is going to take longer than the 5 minutes your primary care dr. gives you. In my opinion waiting for an hr or more is not that outrageous, I have waited that long at th pc dr just to be treated like I didn't matter to him, and to be miss diagnosed. I would much rather wait for a Dr. who will take the time to really look at results of tests, x-rays, mri's what ever it takes to find out the truth behind what I have been dealing with, especially after having others tell me there was nothing to explain my pain, when in fact if they had just taken the time to actually look at mri's themselves they could have seen that there is.

Very competent doctor, but he consistently overbooks his appointments. If you insist on going to him plan on at least an hour of waiting. Also it is difficult to get a response if you have questions or requests over the phone. Kind of like a restaurant with great food and prices but a two hour wait and horrible service. Is it really worth it?

Dr. Bachison was wonderful! After 35 years, I FINALLY have a diagnosis and a treatment plan!!! The wait was very short and the staff was very proffesional and attentive. Dr. Bachison entered the room with a welcoming smile and shook both mine, and my husbands hand. During the appointment, he took time to show me all films, and he explained Everything. Not only did I feel comfortable asking questions, but he encouraged me to ask ask questions. I had a very long appointment, and at no time, did I feel rushed. My expierence was great. I would recommed Dr. Bachison to anyone suffering from a severe disability, due to spine issues. He has given me hope back. For the first time, in many years; I have been able to allow myself to picture a future. Before Dr. Bachison, I had been sentenced to a life of pain, with an untreatable, debilitating, condition. He worked his schedule, to squeeze me into an almost immediate surgical slot, to accommodate me. I had to do it when my kids… would be on break from school, because I neede help and couldn't be alone with my youngest for quite a while, following surgery. He was booked out several months and fit me in because of my circumstances. I hope this helps anyone that has been let down and failed by another doctor. I strongly believe that you will be impressed by you experience.
