Out of desperation I brought my daughter to Lahey in hopes of getting treatment. She has a rare disorder. In the past year or so the hospital and ER she has been going to have refused her rescue meds because her CT scans and MRI's have comeback clean. Leaving my daughter in unbearable pain. We have been over this time and time again with her Immunologist and the ER staff at MGH, we have repeatedly told them that swelling does not necessarily show on scans. We have researched the best we can and have asked doctors to do the same and also asked them to respect that my daughter knows her body well enough to know an HAE attack from an Endometriosis attack to no avail. She has been left to suffer more times than I can count. Fast forward to Dr Reske-Nielsen. He listened, communicated clearly, he reviewed her records, spoke with my daughter and made the judgement to administer the rescue med, which worked like a charm! He saved her so much pain and also helped curb the growing dis-trust… which she now has with the medical community. He was methodical and thorough, he treated her with respect and dignity and he helped her to heal. He renewed a spark of hope in both of us.
