Dr. Catharine Martone Crawford, MD

Dr. Martone was great. She is knowledgeable and easy to work with. I hope never to need her services again, but if I do I know that I will call her again. Believe me, she is worth the wait!

I was diadnosed with a deep chronic anal fissure and was sent to Dr. Martone. Even though I had explained the the deep agony I had been suffering for months, every appointment took a weeks and even a month. I was told I would be on a cancellation list. I would call to even see the status of that. NEVER once did they get me in sooner. After giving me Botox injections and telling me there were no other options besides a surgery she wouln't want to put me through and telling me that all I can do is hope for the best, I went for a second opinion. Miraculously I found a Dr. at UMass in White City that because of him undrestanding the seriousness of the injury, got me in within a day. He explained that the deep fissure would never heal unless I opted to elect a surgery which he performs with a 95% success rate. I had the surgery a week later and within 5 days, as the Dr. said, the pain had almost gone away. Now 6 weeks later I am 100% healed and have my life back.My coclusion is that I… never felt understood about how horrible the pain was ny Dr. Martone. Even begging and pleading for other options or another Dr. that might be able to help. All she did was give me a pitty smile and say "I'm sorry, this is all there is". Never an acceptable answer to a suffering patient. The hospital should be ashamed to let a Dr. so underqualified treat someone in such need of help.

I found Dr Martone to be an exceptional caring doctor. Yes, you wait for her, but she is dedicated to you, as a patient. She spent time with me prior to my surgery as we were delayed, to ease my fears and make sure i was ocmfortable. I was up and back walking a mile 5 days after my laproscopic gall bladder surgery. In short, she is fantastic as a surgeon and doctor.
