Dr. Catherine J Cantwell, MD

Cantwell took me on as a new patient after the loss of our first born. The delivery happened 50 hours after my water broke under the Rochester Regional Network at RGH. I feel as though an emergency c section should have taken place as labor was not progressing. Ultimately, shoulder dystocia took place, she lost oxygen for 4 mins and could not be revived. Since then I have been under Cantwells care. She is one of the best in the UR medicine network. I have had two c sections by her and both were done very well. One in 2022 and 2025.

I have always been the type of person to not want to see a doctor, Dr. Cantwell changed that for me. For the first time in my life, I actually look forward to my appointments. She is an incredible doctor, professional, thorough, incredibly smart! I never once felt rushed. She is very down to earth and I never fear asking questions or expressing anxiety or concern. She is firm and strict where need be and gentle and calming where need be. Just the right amount of bed side manner. I’m so blessed to have found this doctor! She has seriously put my mind at ease throughout my first pregnancy! I couldn’t have asked for a better Obgyn.

I have no idea who wrote these nasty reviews of Dr. Cantwell, but my experience has been completely different with her. She is the most human doctor I have ever visited. She listens and is very good at explaining things and being open about what she knows. She treats me like I’m an old friend when I come to visit (not in a phony way either). After visiting many other OBs and being treated poorly, visiting Dr Cantwell is a breath of fresh air!

No bedside manner Was rude and didn't care about my wanting to know gender of my baby and overall was very blunt and not caring

Dr.cantwell was very unprofessional in my opinion. Everytime I had to be seen by here she was flat out rude. This last visit (prenatal) I ended up walking out because I sat in an exam room for over a hr. I've heard several horrible things about her and her methods and personally KNOW someone who was effected by such methods. She had gotten her tubes tied and a yr later was pregnant. After cantwell patted herself on the back for the wonderful advise on this bithcontrol mothod.

Was sometimes Rude to me. I was told she was also rude to other woman who had gone to her. The other doctors seemed more caring in my opinion. Everyone has a different expirience. Mine just was not a good with her.

During my appointment with Dr. Cantwell she was totally focused on me as her patient. I came for a consultation and was stunned at the thoroughness with which she treated every single one of my concerns and questions. I am so grateful to her for both her generosity with her valuable time as well as the detailed explanations that she shared with me. I left her office satisfied that each question and concern that I had come with had been resolved. Extraordinary doctor!

I have been a patient of Dr. Cantwell's for years; she is very professional. She explains everything so that you understand it before you leave her office. I love this doctor!!!!
